WARNO keybinds and controls

A practical WARNO keybind layout: which controls to change first, which to leave alone, and the audio and video settings worth adjusting. It is for players who still click orders from the command box and want faster micro in practice matches and team games.

Adapted from TOP 10 WARNO Tips

Every order in WARNO can be clicked from the lower command box, and every click costs time you do not have in a fight. This guide lays out the binds worth changing first, the ones worth leaving where they are, and the control-group habits that let you reach howitzers and fighters without moving the camera back to them. By the end you can issue Quick Hunt, Move fast and Attack from the keyboard and queue orders instead of hunting for buttons.

Why WARNO keybinds matter for faster micro

Clicking commands from the lower command box costs time when you need a quick order such as Quick Hunt. Pressing the learned bind instead gives the same order without moving to the UI button, which helps with fast micro and quick reactions.

Practice the binds in a practice match or in team games, then force yourself to use them instead of clicking the command box. Once you know the orders confidently, you can queue up lots of orders and spend less time selecting command buttons.

WARNO HUD settings and interface shortcuts to reduce clicking

Note

Interface binds worth keeping simple

Move camera to last situation awareness event can be unbound when you use the alert icon instead, since left-clicking the enemy spotted alert moves the camera to that event.

Keep Display line of sight on C. Keep Display all on Shift if you want one remaining broad visibility shortcut.

Call artillery can be skipped because it does not work. If F2, F3, and F4 are awkward on a 70% keyboard, Beacon attack can also be unbound while Beacon enemy spotted stays on R.

WARNO audio settings for hearing important cues

How to choose

Set volume around your system volume

Choose music off and sound effects at max when you want important audio cues to stay clear.

Choose low master volume when your system volume is at max.

Choose max master volume when your system volume is low.

Adjust the final mix to a comfortable level, because good volume matters for cues, but the sound should not be uncomfortably loud.

WARNO video preferences: when to change shake cam

How to choose

Set shake cam only when it affects clarity or immersion

Choose mid shake cam when it is currently on max and you want less camera shake.

Choose mid shake cam when it is currently off and you want more immersion.

Leave the other video options alone unless you have a separate reason to change them.

Frequently asked

Which WARNO keybinds should I change first?

Keep camera movement on WASD and leave Move unbound, because right-click already handles movement. Then put Next unit in selection on Caps Lock, Beacon enemy spotted on R, Auto cover on Alt and Sell on Z, and keep Quick Hunt on N, Move fast on F and Attack on Q.

How do I cycle through units of the same type in WARNO?

Tab cycles by unit type, while Next unit in selection on Caps Lock cycles same-type units individually. That means one T-80 BV, then the other T-80 BV, then the T-80 BVK.

How do control groups work, and how should I split my fighters?

Hold Control and press a number to assign the selected units to that number, then press the number again to select them instantly. Split four ASFs across two groups such as 1 and 3 so they do not stack, and put howitzers on a number so you can select them without moving the camera back to them.

What audio and video settings should I use in WARNO?

Turn music off and set sound effects to max so important cues stay clear, then balance master volume against your system volume: low master when the system is at max, max master when the system is low. For video, choose mid shake cam if it is currently on max and you want less shake, or if it is off and you want more immersion, and leave the other video options alone.
