WARDOGS Tier List: Best Guns Ranked for Season 2

A Season 2 WARDOGS weapon tier list ranking 26 primary guns from S to D, built on Noaty Wardogs' tier list video and checked against the official patch notes. It explains why DMRs collapsed, why assault rifles took over, and which cheap default guns a new account should buy.

Adapted from Wardogs Season 2 - Weapons Tier List

🎯 The core idea

Season 02 flipped the WARDOGS meta. The big-calibre damage cut (.308 down 25%, 7.62x54mmR down 20%) dragged every DMR from the top of the list to the bottom, while low-recoil assault rifles and cheap SMGs took over. Run the AMP-9, SV98 or AMR 50 if you have them unlocked, an M4, Galil or TCX-SPR for everything else, and skip the BMR-308, M14 and MK22 until you have AP ammo.

  • free costs nothing
  • cheap small cost
  • setup needs preparation
  • grind pays off slowly
  • skip the thing to stop doing

This WARDOGS tier list follows Noaty Wardogs' 32-minute Season 2 weapons tier list (uploaded 16 October 2026, the day after Update 0.2.0 went live) and checks each placement against the official Season 02 patch notes from 14 October 2026. The rankings are the creator's opinion after a day of play and his own firing-range tests; the prices, unlock levels and damage changes come from the patch notes. Where the two disagree, or where the patch notes add context the video skips, the text says so.

WARDOGS weapon tier list at a glance

This is the final board from the video, with the two guns he ranked out loud but never put on the board (the T-21 and the M1911 pistol) added in brackets. It covers all 25 primary weapons on the board plus the T-21; the RPG-7 was parked in an "IDK" row and not ranked.

TierWARDOGS weaponsWhy they sit here
SAMP-9, AMR 50 (.50 cal), Super-45, SV98Fast kills for the price, or sniper damage that survived the nerf
AM4, TCX-SPR, Galil, Evo-3 Ultra (M1911 pistol, said out loud)Low recoil, strong body damage, flexible range
BMosin Nagant, FAL, AK74Good but capped by a scope lock, the .308 nerf, or armor
CPP-19 Vityaz, PP-19 Bizon, MP5, M249 SAW, MP43 double barrel, M500, PKM (T-21, said out loud)Usable, but outclassed in their class
DCompound Bow, M14, SKS, SVD, BMR-308, Scout Rifle TD, MK22Too much recoil or too little damage against level 3 armor

Two spoken calls differ from the board: he said C tier for the AK74 and the FAL while talking, then dragged both into B when he rearranged the list, and he called the MP43 double barrel "B tier" before settling on "bottom of C". The board is his final answer, so the table follows it. Pistols are left out on purpose: he treats them as a sniper's backup and says that if you want the M1911 with hollow-point rounds, you should just take the AMP-9.

What Season 2 did to the WARDOGS meta

Almost every move on this list traces back to one block of the patch notes. The developers said high-calibre rounds were doing close to sniper damage out of fast-firing guns, so they cut base damage per calibre, and the cut hits every weapon that fires those rounds, vehicle guns included:

CalibreBase damage changeGuns on this list that use it
.308 Winchester-25%BMR-308, M14, MK22, FAL, Evo-3 Ultra
7.62x54mmR-20%SVD, SV98, Mosin, PKM
7.62x39mm-19%SKS, TCX-SPR
.50 Cal-16%AMR 50

Sniper rifles got their hit-location damage raised to make up for it, which is why the SV98 and AMR 50 stayed in S tier while the DMRs fell. DMRs got the opposite: weaker headshots and upper-body hits, plus a new recoil pass. Assault rifle body shots also lost a little damage, and LMG body damage now matches assault rifles, so LMGs win only through magazine size.

Armor got slightly weaker at the top end: level 3 now reduces damage by 50% (down from 55%) and level 4 by 60% (down from 65%). Slugs and compound bow arrows now scale their damage with armor tier instead of taking one flat reduction. And role levels come much faster (level 20 takes 111,500 XP instead of 250,000), which is the creator's main argument for ranking against level 3 armor: he expects most of the lobby to wear it within a week.

S tier: AMP-9, AMR 50, Super-45 and SV98

grind AMP-9. Still the best gun in the game for the money, in his view, and "maybe the top of S tier". A couple of hollow-point rounds to the legs still drop people, so the leg-shot meta survived the patch. It is no longer a starter, though: Season 02 moved it to Medic level 20 ($75,000 to unlock) and raised its price from $900 to $1,375. The video's line that you no longer get it right away is correct, and our WARDOGS medic guide covers the fastest way to that level. The AMP-9's 30-round magazine now unlocks at Medic 30 and the 50-round drum at Medic 45, but he points out you don't need the big magazines to win fights.

AMR 50. The .50 cal sniper "didn't really change much at all" in his testing, and the patch notes back that up in effect: its calibre lost 16% base damage, the smallest cut on the list, and the sniper hit-location boost offsets much of it. The catch is price: $14,800 per purchase now, up from $8,800. He ranks it just under the AMP-9 because sniping is lower-risk than fighting up close.

Super-45. Kills very fast up close. The patch notes increased its damage fall-off beyond 50 m to lock it into a close-quarters role, its price jumped from $2,600 to $5,600, and the unlock rose to $200,000. He says a weaker shooter could drop it to A tier because SMG play is riskier than sniping.

SV98. His surprise S-tier pick: a cheap sniper loadout that one-shots level 3 armor with a headshot once you have AP ammo, and it unlocks one level earlier in Season 02 (Recon 18, down from 19). The test that earned it this spot is in the SV98 vs MK22 section below. For scopes, positions and when to snipe at all, see our WARDOGS sniper guide.

A tier: M4, TCX-SPR, Galil and Evo-3 Ultra

setup The creator's verdict is that assault rifles are the strongest category right now, and 5.56 in particular may define the season. On the range he shows the Galil and M4 with very little vertical recoil, killing quickly even with body shots, and says tap-firing hits harder than he expected. The patch notes add a money reason: kills with an assault-archetype weapon now pay $2,000 instead of $1,500.

GunCalibreSeason 02 unlock and price facts
M45.56mmAssault level 28 (was 20), $150,000 to unlock (was $100,000)
TCX-SPR (new)7.62x39mmAssault level 20, $100,000 to unlock, $3,200 per purchase
Galil5.56mmPrice cut from $2,200 to $2,000
Evo-3 Ultra (new).308 WinSupport level 30, $200,000 to unlock, $7,250 per purchase

M4: "top of A tier", nearly S, and he expects it to become "disgusting" once players have 5.56 AP. Be ready for a long road there: 5.56mm AP now sits at WARDOG level 84. Galil: low recoil and strong; the only fix he wants is an attachment for horizontal recoil. TCX-SPR: the new rifle that took the M4's old level-20 slot; he likes the recoil and feel and calls it a toss-up with the 5.56 rifles. Evo-3 Ultra: the one LMG he rates, because it is usable standing up and keeps some mobility. He calls it a sleeper that could become meta.

B tier: Mosin Nagant, FAL and AK74

cheap AK74. Now one of two default unlocks (with the PP-19 Bizon), and its price halved from $1,600 to $800 in Season 02. He says it still feels good and likes it as the new starting weapon, but warns it will struggle once level 3 armor is common. One small correction: he calls the AK "technically nerfed because the rounds got nerfed", but the AK74 fires 5.45x39mm, which is not on the patch notes' calibre-cut list. What it did lose is the general cut to assault-rifle body-shot damage.

FAL. Full-auto .308 keeps it above the DMRs, and the patch notes confirm it still has the highest damage per shot of any assault rifle, now closer to the TCX-SPR and M4. He finds it average until you unlock .308 AP, because the Galil and M4 are more accurate. It costs $6,000 per purchase (down from $6,500) and $250,000 to unlock.

Mosin Nagant. Sniping is still one of the best ways to make money, in his words, and he was already past Recon 20 a day into the season. The Mosin drops to B only because Season 02 locks it to the new PU 91/30 3.5x scope ($780, Recon 10); the patch notes say other optics were never meant to fit it yet. He misses a variable-zoom optic for longer fights.

C tier: SMGs, shotguns and two LMGs

cheap His complaint about this tier is bloat: too many SMGs that fill the same role, all a level below the AMP-9.

  • PP-19 Bizon. Free from the start, $1,000 per purchase with a 53-round magazine. "Bottom of C", not bad, a fine starter.
  • PP-19 Vityaz. "It's all right." It now unlocks at Medic 15 for $50,000 (was Medic 4, $25,000).
  • MP5. He calls it nerfed again despite already being weak. The patch notes confirm a new, more horizontal recoil pattern, plus a price rise from $1,500 to $1,800; on the plus side it now unlocks at Medic 4 for $25,000.
  • M500 pump shotgun. Fine today against unarmored players and a quick way to level Support in the hot zone, but slugs now lose more damage against higher armor tiers, and it fires too slowly to make up for that.
  • MP43 double barrel. Better than the pump because you get both shots off fast, but hit by the same slug change.
  • PKM and M249 SAW. Good, not great. His issue is mobility: a sniper can shoot and relocate, while an LMG needs a bipod and a fixed angle. The PKM is far easier to reach now (Support 15, $100,000 to unlock, $4,100 per purchase), while the M249 moved later (Support 20, $150,000).
  • T-21 (said out loud). Still too much horizontal recoil; he would take the AK74 over it. It is no longer a default unlock (Assault 3, $10,000) and costs $1,200 instead of $600.

D tier: the DMR collapse

skip This is the angriest part of the video. Every marksman rifle lands in D, plus the bow and the scout rifle.

  • BMR-308. Last season's best gun, now "one of the worst". He blames slower ADS, much higher recoil and the .308 damage cut, at $6,250 per purchase. It does unlock earlier now (Recon 20, down from 30), but he argues it only works with .308 AP, which he says you won't have for a very long time.
  • M14 (new). His range test against a level 3 armored target, with a 4x scope and a muzzle brake, shows about 22 damage per body hit and 46 per headshot. That means two headshots don't kill. Even on the M14 bipod (Recon 29) he couldn't keep the recoil down. It unlocks at Recon 25 for $100,000 and costs $7,400 per purchase.
  • SVD. Slightly better than the BMR because 7.62x54mmR took a smaller cut and, he says, its AP rounds come sooner. The 10-round magazine holds it back.
  • SKS. Takes many body shots now (7.62x39mm lost 19%). He puts it just under the SVD.
  • Compound Bow. Silent and still useful early, but it falls off against higher armor. Season 02 actually gave it a shorter arrow drop and slightly more damage against low-tier armor, so it is a top-of-D pick for quiet early kills. It costs $1,350 per purchase and $150,000 to unlock.
  • Scout Rifle TD. Buffed (a headshot now one-shots a target with no helmet; a level 1 helmet takes two), but he expects it to be useless within hours once players wear armor.
  • MK22. The very bottom, explained in the next section.

SV98 vs MK22: the headshot test

skip To show why one bolt-action rifle is S tier and the other is the worst gun in the game, he loads both with 3x scopes and headshots a level 3 armored target. The SV98 with 7.62x54mmR AP ammo kills in one shot. The MK22 with standard .308 does not. His point is about timing: by the time you unlock .308 AP for the MK22 (he puts it around overall level 160, which no official source confirms), you could have been using the SV98 with AP for most of the season, and in his test the SV98 with AP does about the same damage as an MK22 loaded with .308 AP against tier 3 armor and below.

The patch notes explain the gap: .308 lost 25% base damage and 7.62x54mmR lost 20%, and the MK22 now unlocks later (Recon 30, up from 25) while the SV98 unlocks earlier (Recon 18). Its bipod also got cheaper ($30,000 down to $17,500 to unlock). Unless you already own .308 AP, put your Recon money into the SV98 first.

Best guns for a new or wiped account

free Season 02 changed what a fresh account can run, and this matters more than the top of the list if you are just starting. The two strongest options you can buy on day one are both default unlocks:

PickCost per purchaseTierWhy
AK74$800BCheapest strong rifle in the game, 30-round magazine included
PP-19 Bizon$1,000C53-round magazine, fine close-range starter

From there, the cheapest climbs to an S or A tier gun are the SV98 at Recon 18, the AMP-9 at Medic 20 ($75,000) and the TCX-SPR at Assault 20 ($100,000). If your team is losing badly, check the vendor: Season 02 gives 20% off to any team at least 40 points behind second place. Our WARDOGS guide for beginners walks through the rest of a cheap first kit, and the WARDOGS XP guide covers the fastest way to the role levels above.

Where attachments and scopes come in

setup Attachments move guns within a tier, not between tiers, which is why this list ranks the guns themselves. A few calls from the video carry over: he calls the Tricon scope he mounts on the Galil "absolutely meta" for the assault rifles, wants a horizontal-recoil attachment on the Galil and M4, and uses a 4x on the M14 because a short-range optic can't beat the ARs. Season 02 also moved most attachments to earlier levels and cut most muzzle and grip prices by up to a third. Full builds, attachment unlocks and the best rifle setups live in our WARDOGS best loadout guide.

How this guide was fact-checked

  • Official patch notes (win over the video): the Season 02 patch notes (14 October 2026) for the four new weapons, the calibre damage cuts, the DMR, assault rifle, LMG, slug, bow, scout rifle, MP5, Super-45 and Mosin changes, the armor reduction values, the role XP curve, every unlock level and unlock cost, every per-purchase price, the $2,000 assault kill bonus and the losing-team discount.
  • WARDOGS Wiki on Fandom: the weapons page lists the new Season 02 guns and their calibres (TCX-SPR in 7.62x39mm, M14 and Evo-3 Ultra in .308 Win, Bizon in 9x19mm). It has no entries for the older guns, so their calibres come from the patch notes where named (the FAL and DMRs in .308, snipers in 7.62x54mmR), from the video, and for the Mosin and PKM from their standard real-world chambering.
  • From the video's own demonstration: every tier placement, the M14's 22 body and 46 head damage against level 3 armor, the SV98 one-shot versus MK22 test, and the recoil comparisons. These are the creator's opinion and range tests, attributed to him.
  • Corrections and context added: the AK74's 5.45mm round was not part of the calibre cut (he said it was); the AMP-9 now needs Medic 20 and costs $1,375; the Super-45's change was a damage fall-off past 50 m; the MP5 change was a horizontal recoil pattern; the bow and scout rifle were buffed, not nerfed. His claim that .308 AP needs around overall level 160 is not in any official source and is attributed to him.

What this guide doesn't answer

  • Pistols and launchers. The video ranks only the M1911 out loud and parks the RPG-7 unranked, so there is nothing tested to report.
  • Attachment builds. Covered in the best loadout guide linked above, not here.
  • Vehicle weapons. The calibre cuts also hit helicopter and Humvee miniguns, but vehicles are a separate tier question.
  • Level 4 armor matchups. The video tests against level 3 only, and says tier 4 changes things slightly.
  • Later hotfixes. No weapon balance patch has followed Season 02 as of 26 October 2026; if one lands, some placements will move.

Frequently asked

What is the best gun in WARDOGS Season 2?

In Noaty Wardogs' Season 2 tier list, the AMP-9 SMG sits at the top of S tier: a couple of hollow-point leg shots still kill, and it costs only $1,375 per purchase. It now unlocks at Medic level 20 ($75,000). The SV98, AMR 50 and Super-45 share S tier with it.

Why are DMRs so bad in WARDOGS now?

Season 02 cut .308 base damage by 25% and 7.62x54mmR by 20%, weakened DMR headshots and upper-body hits, and gave every DMR a new recoil pass. The BMR-308, M14, SVD, SKS and MK22 all fell to D tier as a result; most only become usable with AP ammo.

What is the best starting gun in WARDOGS?

The AK74 and the PP-19 Bizon are the two default unlocks in Season 02. The AK74 is the stronger pick: its price dropped from $1,600 to $800 and it comes with a 30-round magazine, and it ranks B tier. The Bizon costs $1,000 with a 53-round magazine and ranks C tier.

Is the M4 still good in WARDOGS Season 2?

Yes. The M4 is top of A tier, with low recoil and fast body-shot kills, and assault-rifle kills now pay $2,000 instead of $1,500. It unlocks later though: Assault level 28 and $150,000, because the new TCX-SPR took its old level-20 slot.

Is the SV98 better than the MK22 in WARDOGS?

Yes, by a wide margin this season. With 7.62x54mmR AP ammo the SV98 one-shots a level 3 armored target with a headshot, while the MK22 with standard .308 does not. The SV98 unlocks at Recon 18 and the MK22 at Recon 30, so the SV98 is S tier and the MK22 is the bottom of D.
