AION 2 Class Tier List (Global): Best Classes Ranked

All eight AION 2 classes ranked for Global PvE at 1,400 to 2,400 item level, with the Global DPS chart behind the placements and advice on picking a main and an alt. Checked against the official patch notes up to October 21, 2026.

Adapted from Global Class Tier List, Explaining each class - Aion 2

🎯 The core idea

On AION 2 Global right now, Chanter is the strongest class: it tops the DPS chart and brings the best party buffs. Cleric and Templar sit in S tier because every group needs a healer and a tank. Ranger, Sorcerer and Spiritmaster are a tight A tier, Assassin needs heavy investment, and Gladiator is weak until Overhead Slam reaches level 16. Your class is permanent, so pick for the long run.

  • free costs nothing
  • cheap small cost
  • setup needs preparation
  • grind pays off slowly
  • skip the thing to stop doing

The AION 2 class tier list at a glance

This AION 2 class tier list follows the one Fubgun built for the Global servers a few days after launch (he recorded it on October 7, 2026, with a level 45 Ranger at roughly 2,700 item level). It ranks the eight classes for PvE group content in the 1,400 to 2,400 item level range, before raids and the new hard modes. It is not a pure damage chart: tank and healer value, buffs, solo comfort and how much gear a class needs all count. Here are all eight classes ranked, with the reason for each placement:

TierClassRoleWhy it sits hereAs an alt
S+ChanterSupport / melee DPSHighest damage on Global plus the best damage and movement buffsGreat
SClericHealerEvery party wants one, so you always get invitedThe best alt in the game
STemplarTankAlways needed, and hits surprisingly hard at low gearGreat
ARangerRanged DPSHigh damage, top farming class, strong at every stageGreat
ASorcererRanged DPSPossibly the highest damage of the three ranged classes, but squishy and weak soloGood
ASpiritmasterRanged DPSThe most comfortable solo class, with spirits, self heals and a one-macro rotationGood
BAssassinMelee DPSB tier at low gear, close to S+ with high Stigma and skill levelsPoor
BottomGladiatorMelee DPSWeak until Overhead Slam is level 16 and Stigmas reach level 20, then one of the bestAvoid for now

So if you are asking which class to play: pick Chanter, Cleric or Templar if you want guaranteed group invites, a ranged DPS if you want strong damage with an easy start, and Assassin or Gladiator only if you plan to put serious time and gear into one main.

Global DPS chart: what the ranking measures (PvE, not PvP)

The tier placements lean on a third-party ranking site (notmeter) that the video shows with the region switched from KR/TW to Global. It compares each class's personal-best DPS from the weekly top 50 on the same bosses, without any normalization for gear. That matters, because Korea and Taiwan have been live since November 2025 and their numbers say very little about Global, where everyone is still on early gear.

The site carries its own warning at the top: class balance comparisons may be unreliable until both skills and Stigmas reach level 20. Hardly anyone on Global had that in the first week, which is why the video uses the chart as a hint and not as the verdict.

This is a PvE tier list. Every number comes from boss DPS, and the tiers are about dungeon and expedition groups. The video does not rank classes for the Abyss, Battlefields or duels, and a PvP tier list would weigh different things: burst, crowd control, mobility and survival against other players. NCSOFT also adjusted standard stats in Battlefields on October 14 to change how long fights last, which changes PvP balance on its own. Until there is good Global PvP data, use the PvE order above only as a rough guide for PvP.

AION 2 DPS ranking: the numbers on screen

These are the P90 values (the top 10% threshold) for Global, week of October 7 to 14 (KST), top 50 per boss across 16 bosses, with 100 as the average baseline. They are read directly from the chart in the video:

RankClassP90 DPS scorevs baseline
1Chanter122.1+22.1%
2Ranger105.4+5.4%
3Gladiator104.3+4.3%
4Sorcerer99.9-0.1%
5Assassin99.0-1.0%
6Templar94.2-5.8%
7Spiritmaster93.5-6.5%
8Cleric62.2-37.8%

Three things to keep in mind. Chanter is the only real outlier: everything from Ranger to Spiritmaster sits within about 12 points. Cleric's low number is expected for the pure healer. And the top 50 reflects who is playing each class: the video points out that many of the biggest spenders on Global play Ranger, which pushes that class up. If you want the best DPS class, read this as "Chanter, then everyone else is close", not as a strict order.

Why item level changes the meta

grind AION 2 classes scale differently with Stigma level, skill level and item level, so the meta classes at 1,500 item level are not the same as at 2,500. The hotbar in this frame shows what that looks like in practice: skill levels between 8 and 20 on a 2,672 item level character. The video's ranking targets roughly 1,400 to 2,400 item level, the range most Global players were in during the first weeks.

Since the video, the October 21 patch added Hard mode for the Krao Cave and Draupnir expeditions with an entry requirement of 2,600 item level, so the top end of the game has moved on. If you are already above 2,600, the late-game section below matters more to you than the early tiers.

Chanter: the strongest class on Global

Chanter is the only class the video puts in S+. It does the highest damage on Global (122.1 on the chart, 22% above baseline) while also giving the best damage buffs and movement speed buffs in the game, so a party with a Chanter clears faster in two ways at once. The video calls it the best class from about 1,600 to 2,400 item level and a great alt as well.

The video's explanation is that Global launched with balance taken from a much later Korean season while players are still in season 1 gear, which leaves Chanter overtuned. That is the creator's reading, not something NCSOFT has confirmed. What the official notes do show is that no balance change has touched Chanter since: the October 21 patch only fixed a visual effect on Spinning Strike. Expect a nerf at some point, but as of October 23, 2026 Chanter is still the top class.

Cleric and Templar: the S tier picks for group invites

free Cleric is S tier because it is the healer: every group wants one, whether it is your main or your alt, and you never wait long for a party. The video calls it the best alt in the game. Its damage is the lowest on the chart (62.2), which is the expected trade for a pure support.

Templar gets the same treatment as the tank. Every party needs one, and at low gear it does more damage than you would expect: on the chart it sits at 94.2, just below Assassin (99.0) and above Spiritmaster (93.5), while still being very tanky and bringing party buffs. If you want a class that is always wanted and still feels strong, Templar is the safe answer.

Spiritmaster vs Sorcerer: comfort or burst

The three ranged damage dealers share A tier because, in the video's experience, they deal roughly the same damage and need about the same Stigma and skill investment. The differences are in how they play:

SpiritmasterSorcerer
Solo playBest of the three: spirits tank for you, plenty of self healsWeakest of the three
SurvivabilityComfortableThe squishiest ranged class, with frequent animation locks
AoEConsistentCooldown-reliant, weaker in Daily Dungeon and Ascension Trials
DamageSteady single target and AoEPossibly the highest of the three at equal gear, by a small margin
ControlsWhole rotation fits in one macroMost rewarding with 6 to 8 buttons pressed manually

The Spiritmaster one-button macro is real but not optimal; pressing skills yourself still does more. Sorcerer is the pick if you like an active, button-heavy class and play mostly in groups.

Patch notes since the video: the October 14 patch fixed Spiritmaster's Summon: Ancient Spirit not using its skills properly at level 15 or below, and fixed Sorcerer's Fire Wall and Cold Storm losing bonus damage when there was a height difference to the target. The October 21 patch fixed Cold Storm not dealing its extra damage to targets with stacked Frostbite, and removed extra Fire Wall damage that was wrongly hitting targets without Embers. Those are bug fixes, not reworks, but they mean both classes play slightly differently from the footage.

Ranger: the farming class and the video's main

Ranger is the creator's main, so weigh this section with that in mind. He describes it as close to a turret: you hold your attacks in the middle of a pack and hit everything around you, which makes it one of the best classes for farming pets, Abyss and open-world content. It is second on the DPS chart (105.4) and, in his words, performs well at every stage, as a main or as an alt.

The video also warns that the chart flatters Ranger a little, because many of the players with the most invested gear on Global picked it. The honest summary: Ranger is a strong, low-risk A tier choice, not a class that is clearly above Sorcerer or Spiritmaster.

Assassin: B tier now, S+ with heavy investment

setup Assassin is the class most tied to investment. With low Stigma shards and low skill levels it plays like B tier; with very high Stigma and skill levels the video rates it close to S+. For the 1,600 to 2,100 item level range it lands in B, not because the kit is bad but because it needs so much before it gets going. On the chart it sits mid-pack at 99.0.

skip For the same reason, the video does not recommend Assassin as an alt. An alt rarely gets the resources needed for it to perform, so it stays in its weak phase.

Gladiator: the weakest class until Overhead Slam hits level 16

The video puts Gladiator in its own bottom row, labelled "needs level 16 Overhead Slam". Overhead Slam is the core damage skill, and below level 16 the class feels very weak; many groups were kicking Gladiators for that reason in the first week. The other early problem is threat: the video says Gladiator has no real taunt, so it struggles to hold aggro in dungeons until its damage is high.

The chart shows the other side. Gladiator is third on the top 50 list (104.3), because the best-geared players have the skill levels it needs. Once you have level 16 Overhead Slam and level 20 Stigma skills, the video says it turns into one of the best classes in the game. skip Do not make it an alt for now; only play Gladiator as a main you will invest in.

Picking a main and an alt

You cannot change class later, so this class comparison is really about which problem you would rather have. The video's advice, sorted by goal:

  • Guaranteed group invites: Cleric first, then Templar and Chanter. Supports and tanks make the best alts because parties are always short of them.
  • Strong damage with an easy start: Ranger, Sorcerer or Spiritmaster. A DPS alt is less in demand, but you will still get invited with decent gear.
  • Solo comfort: Spiritmaster or Ranger. Sorcerer is the weakest of the three alone.
  • Long-term payoff: Assassin or Gladiator, as a main only, if you will push Stigmas and skill levels hard.
  • Top class right now: Chanter, as long as it stays this strong.

Late game: every class moves up

At the end of the video the creator moves every class up to A tier or better to show where things go once players have all their gear, all their Stigma shards, all skill slots and the plus-level skill cards. In that picture Gladiator easily reaches S tier, the A tier classes close the gap, and Chanter remains strong from start to finish.

Two practical takeaways. First, a weak early tier is a reason to expect a slower start, not a reason to reroll if you like the class. Second, this whole list will shift with balance patches, so treat it as the state of Global in October 2026 and check the patch notes before committing to a reroll.

How this guide was fact-checked

  • From the video's own screen: the DPS table (notmeter, Global, P90, October 7 to 14 KST, top 50, 16 bosses) and the tier placements on the tiermaker board were read directly from frames. The creator's character (level 45, about 2,672 item level, skill levels on the hotbar) is visible in the opening footage.
  • From official AION 2 patch notes on Steam (October 7, 14 and 21, 2026): no class balance changes since the video, only bug fixes; Chanter got a visual fix to Spinning Strike; Spiritmaster's Summon: Ancient Spirit was fixed at level 15 and below; Sorcerer's Fire Wall and Cold Storm got several damage fixes; Expedition Hard mode for Krao Cave and Draupnir (2,600 item level) was added on October 21; Battlefield standard stats were adjusted on October 14.
  • Attributed to the video, not independently confirmed: that Global uses balance from a later Korean season with season 1 gear, that Gladiator needs level 16 Overhead Slam and has no real taunt, and the play-feel comments on each class. There is no reliable English AION 2 wiki yet to confirm skill numbers.
  • Corrections: the transcript mentions a "striker" among the ranged classes; AION 2 has no such class, and the three ranged DPS on screen are Ranger, Sorcerer and Spiritmaster. The video reads the chart as a "top 50, 90th percentile" list, which matches the P90 setting shown.

What this guide doesn't answer

  • Builds, Stigma choices and skill orders for each class: each needs its own guide, and this one only ranks the classes.
  • A real PvP tier list: no reliable Global PvP data exists yet, and the source video only covers PvE.
  • Raid rankings: the video was made before raids and before Expedition Hard mode, so high-end placements may differ.
  • Korea and Taiwan balance: those servers are on a different patch, so their tier lists do not transfer to Global.
  • Future nerfs or buffs: NCSOFT has not announced class balance changes; this guide reflects the patch notes up to October 21, 2026.

Frequently asked

What is the best class in AION 2 right now?

Chanter. On AION 2 Global it tops the boss DPS chart at 122.1, about 22% above the average class, and it also gives the best damage and movement speed buffs. It is the only class in S+ on this tier list, and no balance patch up to October 21, 2026 has changed it.

What is the best DPS class in AION 2?

Chanter does the most damage on Global. Among the pure damage dealers, Ranger (105.4), Gladiator (104.3), Sorcerer (99.9) and Assassin (99.0) are close on the top 50 chart. Ranger, Sorcerer and Spiritmaster are the safest picks at early gear, while Gladiator and Assassin need high skill and Stigma levels first.

Which AION 2 class should I play as an alt?

Cleric is the best alt because every party needs a healer, followed by Templar and Chanter. Ranged DPS alts are fine with decent gear. Avoid Assassin and Gladiator as alts for now: both need heavy Stigma and skill investment before they perform.

Why is Gladiator so weak in AION 2?

Gladiator depends on its core skill Overhead Slam, and according to the source video the class feels very weak until that skill is level 16 and its Stigma skills reach level 20. It also struggles to hold threat early. Fully geared Gladiators are third on the Global DPS chart, so it scales into one of the best classes.

Is there an AION 2 PvP tier list?

Not a reliable one for Global yet. This tier list is built on PvE boss DPS and group value. PvP depends on burst, crowd control and survival instead, and Battlefield stats were adjusted on October 14, 2026, so use the PvE ranking only as a rough guide for the Abyss and Battlefields.
