When your skills stop leveling, wisdom stones have hit their ceiling, and that is normal. From there, three other systems keep adding levels: the Daevanion board, Arcana cards and rerolled gear stats. This page shows how each one adds levels, what it costs, and which to work on first.
Quick answer
| What | Answer |
|---|---|
| Board bonus | +1 level per skill when its blue board is filled |
| Spot colors | Blue spots raise active skills, green spots raise passive skills |
| Arcana material | Mysterious crystal, from Ascension Trial on hard (gear score 2,000 minimum) |
| Gear method | Reroll gear stats in the soul binding system |
| Wisdom stones | They stop raising skills at a certain point |
| Methods | Three: Daevanion boards, Arcana cards, gear stats |
Why skills stop at level 16 and what raises them further
Wisdom stones raise a skill only so far. Once a skill stops responding to them, nothing is broken and you are not missing an upgrade. That is simply where wisdom stones stop 7:40.
Past that point, levels come from three places, and they stack:
- Daevanion board nodes that are tied to specific skills
- Arcana cards crafted to target the skills you choose
- Skill bonuses rolled onto gear pieces
Stacking all three is how a character ends up with some skills at 16, some at 17 and a few at level 18 1:57.
The extra levels are worth more than a damage bump. As a skill passes certain levels it unlocks special effects that turn it into a stronger version of itself 8:10. Do not neglect passive skills either: bring them to their highest level too, mainly through the board's green spots.
Raise skills on the Daevanion board
Open the Daevanion system, where you spend Daevanion crystals on board nodes. Some nodes are skill nodes: blue spots raise the level of an active skill, green spots raise a passive skill. Filling a blue board gives one level to each skill it covers. Filling the spot for Rushing Smash, for example, takes it from level 16 to level 17 on the spot 2:56.
Crystals are limited. They come from regional quests and can be bought in several in-game shops 3:26, but early on you cannot fill every node, so spend them in this order:
- 3:55
- you will fill them all eventually
Every crystal spent on a skill you never cast is a crystal that cannot raise one you do. Pick the skills in your rotation before filling blue spots.
Craft Arcana cards for the skills you want
Arcana cards add skill levels and raise your character stats at the same time. They drop from transcendent dungeons 4:23. At first, equip any card you have, even though its skill bonus is random. Crafted cards let you pick the skill.
Crafting uses mysterious crystals, which come from three sources 4:51:
| Source | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Ascension Trial on hard | Minimum gear score 2,000 |
| Seasonal rewards | Earned through the season |
| Seasonal reward shop | Bought with seasonal currency |
Once you have crystals, work through the craft:
A fully enhanced card adds several levels at once. A +5 card can show Dark Crush at +3 and Onslaught at +2, for example, with other skills raised alongside them.
The skill is locked in when you craft. Confirm that the skill you ticked belongs to your class rotation before you spend the crystals, because there is no cheap way to swap it afterwards.
Reroll gear stats to gain skill levels
Gear pieces can roll a +1 bonus to a specific skill alongside their normal stats. Earrings with Survival Willpower +1 are a typical example 6:15. Heroic gear parts can carry these bonuses too.
To chase one, open the soul binding system and reroll the piece's stats 6:43. Reroll books give you two options:
- Reroll every stat on the piece at once
- Reroll one stat at a time, keeping the rest
Hitting the specific skill you want is down to luck 7:12. Read every result before you accept it. When a roll lands a bonus to a skill you use, switch to one-stat rerolls so you do not throw it away chasing the other stats.
Daevanion board, Arcana cards and gear compared
| Daevanion board | Arcana cards | Gear rerolling | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it adds | +1 per skill when its blue board is filled | Levels on chosen skills, more as the card is enhanced to +5 | +1 to one skill per bonus rolled |
| Paid with | Daevanion crystals (limited) | Mysterious crystals | Reroll books |
| Can you pick the skill? | Yes, by which spots you fill | Yes, at crafting | No, it is luck |
| Covers passive skills | Yes, through green spots | Depends on the skill picked | Yes, if one rolls |
| Work on it | First, alongside the corner nodes | Once you can run Ascension Trial on hard | Whenever you reroll gear anyway |
Also worth knowing
- The board will not carry every skill to 16 on its own. Players report that board nodes alone stop around level 14, and the remaining levels come from Arcana cards, which means crafting and enhancing them rather than relying on random drops. A skill already sitting at 16 still gains a level from its board spot, so the board adds on top of whatever the other systems gave it.
Frequently asked
How do I level skills past the normal cap in AION 2?
Wisdom stones stop raising a skill at some point, which is normal. After that, skill levels come from three other places: Daevanion board nodes, Arcana cards and rerolled gear stats. Higher skill levels also unlock special effects that turn a skill into a better version.
What do the blue and green spots on the Daevanion board do?
Blue spots raise the level of active skills and green spots raise passive skills. Filling a blue board gives one level to each skill it covers. Crystals are limited, so fill the corners first and spend the rest on the skills you need.
How do I get mysterious crystals for Arcana cards?
Play Ascension Trial on hard difficulty, which needs a minimum gear score of 2,000. Mysterious crystals also come from seasonal rewards and can be bought in the seasonal reward shop.
Can gear increase my skill levels?
Yes. Rerolling stats in the soul binding system can add a skill bonus such as plus one to a specific skill on a gear piece. Getting a particular skill takes luck, so check each reroll before keeping it.
