AION 2 Alt Guide: Every Way Alt Characters Boost Your Main

Alt characters can feed your main with conquest drops, crafting materials, achievement rewards, account-wide skins and more. This guide covers what to do on an alt, what carries over, and how much effort each source is worth.

An alt in AION 2 can do much more for your main than run conquest dungeons. This guide covers what to farm on each alt, which rewards actually reach your main through the warehouse or account-wide unlocks, and which sources are worth the time.

Get your alts to level 45 and pick a class

Every alt starts the same way: reach level 22 so the character regenerates Odyle energy. That alone makes an alt useful, but the real payoff starts at level 45 0:30, which unlocks conquest dungeons, nightmares, the Abyss and most of the other content covered below.

How many alts you need depends on how much you play. Heavy players run out of Odyle and run out of things to do on their main first, so for them one alt is the practical minimum. Four is the most worth running 0:59, and a few alts do almost as well as many.

For the class, take a Chanter 1:28. It is currently considered the strongest class in the game, and it handles the Abyss corridors well, which is where much of an alt's long-term value comes from. Any class can run corridors and buy skins, so treat this as a strong preference rather than a rule.

Run conquest dungeons, never exploration

Conquest dungeons are the backbone of every alt. Everything they drop is usable on your main: refining stones, dungeon materials, and yellow-grade items you can reroll on the main character.

The kinah is the other half of the reason. Kinah comes in two kinds, and only one of them leaves the character:

ExplorationBound kinahNo

Skip exploration on alts entirely 1:58. Every run there is time spent earning money that stays locked on the alt.

Spend bound kinah on your alt

Bound kinah still piles up — an alt reaching level 45 holds about 2 to 3 million, and more if it clears sealed dungeons and strongholds. It cannot be sent to your main, but it can be spent on things your main benefits from.

  • Pet wheels. Pet wheels are shared account-wide, so rerolling them on an alt with bound kinah improves the main's pet too 2:28.
  • Gear enhancement. Enhancing spends bound kinah before unbound. Put a piece of your main's gear in the warehouse, take it out on the alt, enhance it there, and send it back.
  • Crafting materials. Buy them with bound kinah from the handicrafting merchant, or from the Wind Breeze Merchant in the shop if you have a subscription 2:57.

The crafting stockpile matters more than it looks early on. Higher crafts such as Balaur Essence get expensive, and an alt that has been buying materials with bound kinah all along pays for them without touching real money.

Farm season shop and crafting achievements on your alt

This is where alts earn the most right now. Season coins are earned per character, so each alt fills its own season shop budget and buys its own crafting materials. Those materials are bound to the alt, but some of them sell for about 2 million on the market and others for almost 1 million 3:25, so every one the alt uses is money the main does not spend.

Every item in the season shop is bought with season coins that each character earns for itself, so an alt can buy its own materials.

Those materials feed straight into achievements, and the achievement rewards are the part that reaches your main. Work through these on each alt:

  • cheap small cost, quick
  • setup one-time effort to arrange
  • grind takes repeated crafting
  1. 3:25
  2. 4:23
  3. 3:53
  4. 5:19
  5. 4:52
The Daevanion board is where every point goes to complete the soul stone and mana stone achievements on an alt.
Save first

Clearing the Daevanion board wipes your allocation. Take the screenshot before you unbind anything, or you rebuild the layout from memory.

Multiply the crafting and board achievements across three or four alts and the savings run into tens of millions.

Turn Abyss points into PvP stat skins

Every character can run the Abyss corridors while its faction is winning, and each corridor pays 20,000 Abyss points 5:49. Sealed dungeons and strongholds on the opposing faction's side add more; clearing all of them comes to about 170,000 points per alt.

Spend those points on skins. Skins are account-wide, so a skin bought on an alt is owned by your main and appears in every character's closet 6:19. PvP skins carry an owned effect: PvP damage tolerance or PvP damage boost, such as 1% tolerance on armor pieces and 2% damage boost on earrings 8:44.

Owning skins also raises the stats on the completion tab, which grow with the number of skins on the account — PvP skins included.

If you do not play PvP

The points are still worth earning. Buy mana stones with Abyss points, then open crafting → alchemy → mana stones and craft them into intermediate stones 6:47. The crafted stones are no longer bound, so they sell on the marketplace, and a good proc sells for about 800,000. The crafting also levels alchemy toward the crafting achievements above.

Collect medals for tier-two skins

The second tier of PvP skins costs medals on top of Abyss points 7:45. Collecting them on an alt instead of the main keeps the main's points free for everything else.

SourceMedals per weekEffortNotes

Abyss weekly missionsRoughly 10HighKill players or hunt monsters; tedious enough to run on one alt only

Skipping the tedious sources, expect about two to three weeks per alt to reach a tier-one skin, which then works on your main as well.

Know what else transfers, and how far to progress an alt

A few more sources reach your main, with limits:

SourceReaches your mainHow
Nightmare shop itemsNo—
Nightmare shop skinsYesAccount-wide, and they add completion tab stats
Ascension Trial pet chestYesAccount-wide
Ascension Trial mana stones and soul stonesYesThrough the warehouse

Nightmare skins are the only thing in that shop worth buying on an alt 10:13. Ascension Trial, by contrast, is worth running in full on every alt 10:42.

You do not need to push an alt's gear right now. That changes in later seasons: conquest dungeons will make their kinah bound unless the character is at item level 2100 or higher 11:12. Plan to progress at least the alts you want to keep earning transferable kinah. Getting one character to 2100 also opens the Fire Temple dungeon.

The achievements, crafting, skins and Ascension Trial rewards stay useful at any gear level, so an alt you never progress still pays its way.

Also worth knowing

Before you commit
  • Bound kinah buys skins too. The Black Market shop sells skins for bound kinah, and every one adds to the account's skin collection and completion stats.
  • Odyle purchases went up. Odyle energy can now be bought 20 times per character, up from 4, which makes each alt's energy worth even more.
  • Prices depend on your server. Every kinah value above varies widely; on some servers blue refining stones sell for around 250k, so check your own market before deciding a source is worth it.
  • Chanter is not mandatory for corridors. Any class can run them and buy skins; an Assassin's mobility handles corridors comparably.
Unresolved

Corridors only open while your faction is winning, and Elyos players on some low-population servers have had none at all. On those servers the corridor route does not exist; sealed dungeons and strongholds are the remaining source of Abyss points.

Frequently asked

Do I have to play a chanter as my alt in AION 2?

No. Any class can run the Abyss corridors and buy skins, so a chanter is a preference rather than a requirement. Chanter is the recommended pick because it is considered the strongest class in the game at the moment, and an assassin can still handle the corridors.

How many alt characters do I need in AION 2?

One alt is the practical minimum, and four is the most worth running. The right number depends on how much you play, since heavy players run out of Odyle energy and things to do on their main first. A few alts do just as well as a lot of them.

What can I do if my faction has no Abyss corridors?

Corridors only work while your faction is winning, and some low-population Elyos servers get none. In that case you can still earn Abyss points from sealed dungeons and strongholds on the opposing faction's side, which add up to about 170,000 points per alt.

Will alts still be worth it in later AION 2 seasons?

Conquest dungeons will make the kinah you gain bound unless the character reaches an item level of at least 2100. Alts will need that progression to keep earning transferable kinah from conquest. The achievements, crafting, skins and Ascension Trial rewards remain useful without it.
