🎯 The core idea
Vindicta is a long-range marksman who wins fights from the back line and from the air. Crow Familiar and Stake set up the pick, your rifle and Flight do the damage, and Assassinate finishes anyone under half health. Build Opening Rounds, charges and range early, add one defensive answer for the lobby, and scale with Assassinate kill stacks. Everything here is checked against deadlock.wiki for October 2026.
- free costs nothing
- cheap small cost
- setup needs preparation
- grind pays off slowly
- skip the thing to stop doing
Who Vindicta is and what changed since the video
This Vindicta guide is built on ovvcci's item-by-item video "Vindicta: Everything You Need to Know" (uploaded 12 September 2026). We refreshed the build with Cashcoryy's "Movement Snipe" build (build ID 870556, updated 10 October 2026), which is the only Vindicta build video we found from after the City Never Sleeps update. Every number was checked against deadlock.wiki on 19 October 2026.
Vindicta is a marksman with a rapid-fire, long-range rifle called Wallflower's Revenge. The wiki lists 755 base health (+28 per boon), 53 DPS, 19 bullets, 4.33 bullets per second and damage falloff from 20 m to 64 m. That falloff is long, so she keeps her damage at distances where most heroes lose theirs. She is fragile, though. The video says she is not the most sustainable hero, and both creators agree that most of her deaths come from bad positioning.
setup What changed since the source video. ovvcci recorded before the 16 September balance patch and the 29 September City Never Sleeps update (map rework, neutrals reworked into Haunts, Steam Vents). Vindicta herself was last changed on 12 August 2026, when Stake's T1 dropped from +65 to +45 damage. So her kit is the same as in the video. The 16 September patch did change several of her items: Trophy Collector, Spiritual Overflow and Mercurial Magnum were nerfed, Toxic Bullets got a small buff, and Plated Armor now blocks Flight's on-hit spirit damage. Those changes are marked in the sections below. The video's map tricks were filmed on the old map.
Stake: tether enemies in place
Stake (1) throws a stake that tethers every enemy near where it lands. Tethered heroes can only move as far as the tether allows, and their movement abilities and items are silenced while it lasts. ovvcci calls it great crowd control for catching people and setting up snipes or rifle sprays.
| Stake value (wiki, Oct 2026) | Number |
|---|---|
| Damage | 40 (×0.5 spirit scaling) |
| Capture radius / tether length | 9 m / 9 m |
| Tether duration | 1.75 s |
| Cooldown | 40 s |
| T1 | +45 damage (cut from +65 on 12 August 2026) |
| T2 | -22 s cooldown |
| T3 | +0.75 s tether duration and +2 m capture radius |
Throw the stake where the enemy is standing, not where they are running to, because the tether keeps them within 9 m of the landing spot. A tethered hero can't dash or use a movement item to escape, so that is the moment to scope in. Unstoppable suppresses the tether, and debuff resist shortens it. The wiki also notes that ability range items don't make the tether longer.
Flight: your damage platform and escape
Flight (2) launches Vindicta into the air for 13 s (42 s cooldown). While flying, every bullet deals +10 spirit damage (×0.18 spirit scaling) and your items get +50% range. ovvcci compares it to a built-in Mercurial Magnum: you keep shooting with your gun and add spirit damage on top. Note that this bonus damage also falls off with distance.
| Flight upgrade | Wiki value |
|---|---|
| T1 | +50% base ammo while flying (also refills half your ammo) |
| T2 | +10 s duration |
| T3 | Hero kills refresh the duration, +10 spirit damage with higher spirit scaling |
Two tips from the wiki that the video leaves out. You can melee and parry without leaving Flight, so Counterspell still works in the air. Also, the dash key is taken by "fly up" while flying, so rebind one of them if you want to dash mid-flight.
skip Don't hover over a fight for the whole duration. Cashcoryy now puts Flight last in his skill order. He says he died most often while floating above a Rift spawn and shooting down. That makes you easy to spot and easy to stun. Use Flight to reach an angle, shoot, and come back down before the enemy buys a stun for you.
Crow Familiar: shred before you shoot
Crow Familiar (3) sends a spread of 12 crows that deal 40 impact damage (×0.744 spirit scaling). They also apply a bleed of 2.2% of the target's current health per second for 5 s and cut the target's bullet and spirit resist by 6%. Cooldown is 32 s. The crows fly in an asterisk shape with gaps at the top, at the bottom and near the lower-left line. The wiki suggests aiming slightly left of a lone target for better coverage.
| Crow Familiar upgrade | Wiki value |
|---|---|
| T1 | -35% incoming healing on the target |
| T2 | +0.5% bleed damage and -16 s cooldown (raised from -12 s on 30 June 2026) |
| T3 | +2 s duration, -8% bullet resist and -8% spirit resist |
The video mentions that crow also reduces healing. That is only true after the T1 upgrade, which is why both creators put the first ability point into it. Open every trade with crow. The resist cut makes your bullets, your Flight damage and your Assassinate shot hit harder. Because the bleed is based on current health, it does the most damage on full-health tanks.
Vindicta Assassinate: the execute shot
Assassinate (4) is a scoped, hitscan rifle shot with 2 charges, 2.5 s between charges and a 55 s cooldown. It deals 90 damage (×0.93 spirit scaling). Against targets below 50% health it adds up to 90 bonus damage (×2.3 spirit scaling). An unscoped or quick shot deals only 50% damage, and it takes 1 s scoped to reach full power. Each hero killed after being hit gives you +6% weapon damage, and those stacks are permanent.
| Assassinate upgrade | Wiki value |
|---|---|
| T1 | -15 s cooldown |
| T2 | +80 max bonus damage |
| T3 | +4% weapon damage per kill, applied to the stacks you already have |
grind Correction: the video says you have a 5-second window to get the stack if a teammate finishes the target. The wiki puts this window at 4 seconds. The stack still counts if the enemy dies to someone else or to your gun, and even if they revive with something like Rejuvenator. Enemies under 50% health get a purple effect and an "ASSASSINATE!" tag. That is your cue to scope in from anywhere on the map. The shot pierces enemies and ignores Disarm. You can also cast Crow and Stake while scoped without leaving the scope, but casting Flight will un-scope you.
Vindicta skill order and ability upgrades
Both creators show their ability point order in the in-game build browser. They agree on the opening: unlock Crow Familiar first, then Flight, Stake and Assassinate. Both also put the first upgrade into Crow T1 for the healing cut.
| Order | Cashcoryy "Movement Snipe" (Oct 2026) | ovvcci (Sept 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Crow T1 | Crow T1 |
| 2 | Assassinate T1 | Flight T1 |
| 3 | Assassinate T2 | Assassinate T1 |
| 4 | Crow T2 | Assassinate T2 |
| 5 | Crow T3 | Crow T2 |
| 6 | Stake T1 | Flight T2 |
| 7 | Stake T2 | Flight T3 |
| 8 | Stake T3 | Stake T1 |
| 9 | Assassinate T3 | Stake T2 |
| 10 | Flight T1 | Assassinate T3 |
| 11 | Flight T2 | Crow T3 |
| 12 | Flight T3 | Stake T3 |
Pick the left column if you play the snipe-and-reposition style below. Pick the right column if you play the hybrid style that fights from Flight. In both orders, Assassinate T3 gets points once you have built up several kill stacks, because it adds +4% to each stack you already own.
Best Vindicta build for City Never Sleeps (October 2026)
Cashcoryy's build, shown in the video, is the most recent one we could check. He says it makes Assassinate, not his gun, his top damage source in most games. It trades Flight damage for movement items, so you can keep moving to new sniping angles.
| Phase | Items (wiki cost) | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Lane | High-Velocity Rounds (800) → Opening Rounds (1,600), Extra Spirit (800), Extra Charge (800) | Opening Rounds gives +25% weapon damage against targets above 50% health and spirit power. Extra Charge adds an Assassinate charge |
| Early mid | Improved Spirit (1,600), Rapid Recharge (3,200), Quicksilver Reload (1,600) | Rapid Recharge adds +2 charges, 30% faster charge time and +14 spirit power for charged abilities |
| Mid | Extra Stamina (800), Sprint Boots (800), Enduring Speed (1,600), Stamina Mastery (3,200), Recharging Rush (1,600), Fleetfoot (1,600) | Movement for reaching new angles. Recharging Rush gives back a charge after 200 weapon damage in 3.5 s |
| Late | Boundless Spirit (6,400), Enchanter's Emblem (1,600), Counterspell (3,200), Burst Fire (3,200), Sharpshooter (3,200), Spellslinger (6,400) | Spirit power for the snipe, a spirit defense, and gun items for the stage where snipes get hard to land |
His reasoning, in short: he takes Rapid Recharge before Quicksilver Reload because it makes the snipe hit harder. He tested Spirit Shredder and Mystic Shot and says each added only about 20 damage to his snipe, so he takes Fleetfoot instead. He also skips Tankbuster, because late-game snipes are too hard to land for it to pay off. The 20-damage figure is his test, not a wiki value. Healing Rite is listed as optional.
ovvcci's hybrid build and vitality choices
ovvcci's build (build ID 544008) is the hybrid version: gun damage plus Flight's spirit damage. It is a good choice if you like fighting from the air.
| Phase | Core items | Situational |
|---|---|---|
| Lane | High-Velocity Rounds, Sprint Boots, Trophy Collector or Opening Rounds, Extra Charge, Long Range, Quicksilver Reload, Sharpshooter | Opening Rounds first into healers like Rem or McGinnis |
| Vitality | Reactive Barrier, Enchanter's Emblem or Battle Vest | Dispel Magic, Counterspell, Spirit Resilience, Fortitude, Escalating Resilience |
| Mid | Rapid Recharge, Hollow Point, then one of Burst Fire, Blood Tribute, Alchemical Fire, Toxic Bullets | See the gun-items section |
| Late | Mercurial Magnum, Spiritual Overflow, Crippling Headshot, Silencer, Lucky Shot, Boundless Spirit, Glass Cannon, Ricochet, Armor Piercer | Late defense: Indomitable, Spellbreaker, Plated Armor, Unstoppable, Cheat Death, Inhibitor, Siphon Bullets |
For vitality, the video gives a simple matchup rule. Pick Battle Vest against gun heroes (+18% bullet resist). Pick Enchanter's Emblem against spirit heroes (+18% spirit resist). Keep Reactive Barrier when the enemy has Knockdown. For a Tier 3 slot, ovvcci rates Dispel Magic highest, because it removes slows, gun debuffs, silences and Knockdown. On the wiki it removes all non-ultimate debuffs and heals 250. He calls Counterspell the better option for experienced players, since it needs a timed parry.
skip ovvcci skips Titanic Magazine and Swift Striker. He prefers Quicksilver Reload's free reload on his imbued ability. Titanic Magazine is +100% max ammo on the wiki, so it would double his roughly 32 late-game bullets. The video names the last late-game gun item "APR". In-game it is now called Armor Piercer (6,400). ovvcci calls it rarely worth buying.
Vindicta laning, Trophy Collector and farming
Vindicta laning isn't hard, but you can't sustain through a bad lane. The video warns against getting stuck in a die-respawn-die loop. Its matchup notes are opinions, not wiki data. Hard lanes: early heavy hitters like Calico, Holliday, Mina and Lash. Medium lanes: big targets that are easy to snipe, like Graves, Infernus and Paige. Grey Talon wins long-range duels, so don't trade shots with him. Doorman and Sinclair are unpredictable.
grind Trophy Collector (1,600, builds from Sprint Boots) is the economy item. Each kill or assist adds a stack, and stacks stay through death. On the wiki each stack gives 16 souls per minute (cut from 18 on 16 September, after the video), up to 16 stacks, plus a little sprint speed and +0.75% ability range. It also gives -15% weapon damage against NPCs. ovvcci estimates it earns 3,500–10,000 souls per game. That is his experience, not a wiki value, and it was measured before the nerf. He buys it first against weak lanes and Opening Rounds first against heals.
Farming isn't Vindicta's strength because she has no area damage to clear camps fast. After City Never Sleeps, jungle camps are Haunts and the map has new Steam Vents. Farm the small Haunts near your lane and leftover Sinner's Sacrifices, then group for fights and objectives. If your team already has a carry, move mid and stack Trophy Collector. If you are the only carry, keep a side lane and farm it.
Rifts, Walkers and split pushing
ovvcci doesn't like Unstable Rift fights on Vindicta. Enemies hide behind cover and under bridges, and you end up flying around looking for an angle. His alternative is very good: hit a Walker while the enemy team is at the Rift. With Rapid Recharge, Hollow Point, Flight and Crow, he says he can take a tower in 4 to 8 seconds. That timing comes from the video and depends on your items. If enemies turn back to defend, you have pulled them away from the Rift for your team.
setup Plan your escape route before you start. The video shows rooftop routes out of a Walker's range on the old map. The City Never Sleeps rework changed the map, so test the routes again in Sandbox or Explore NYC. Cashcoryy's post-update gameplay shows zipline speed boosts, which are still a quick way to rotate between lanes.
Situational gun items: Burst Fire, Blood Tribute, Toxic Bullets
The video's mid-game "choose one" slot depends on the match. Wiki numbers for October 2026:
| Item (3,200 each) | What it does | Buy it when |
|---|---|---|
| Burst Fire | +32% fire rate and +1.25 m/s move speed for 4.5 s after hitting a hero, +50% slide distance | Default pick. ovvcci's replacement for Swift Striker |
| Blood Tribute | Toggle that drains 50 HP/s for +35% fire rate, +35% debuff resist and +2 m/s move speed | Enemies are focusing you or buying counter items against you |
| Toxic Bullets | Bleed of 1.9% max HP per second (spirit scaling raised 16 September) and -35% healing | Two or more healing frontliners like Victor, Abrams or Lady Geist |
| Alchemical Fire | Thrown flask, spirit damage over time and bullet resist cut | Walker and Rift fights where enemies stand still |
ovvcci explains why Toxic Bullets matters. A snipe sometimes leaves a target alive with 5–10 HP. The bleed then finishes them within a few seconds, and the kill still gives you an Assassinate stack if it happens within the 4-second window.
Vindicta late game build
In the late game, stay behind your frontline and deal damage. ovvcci keeps repeating this, and the main reason Vindicta loses fights is dying in the first 30 seconds. Late item notes, with the September changes the video doesn't cover:
- Spiritual Overflow (6,400): fire rate, spirit power and spirit lifesteal that build up while you shoot heroes. It was nerfed on 16 September. It builds up 35% slower, spirit power went from 40 to 30 and fire rate from 30% to 25%. It is still good on Vindicta, but not the auto-buy the video describes.
- Mercurial Magnum (6,400, builds from Quicksilver Reload): base bullet damage went from 25% to 20% on 16 September. Buy it if you went Quicksilver Reload early.
- Crippling Headshot (6,400): headshots apply -16% bullet and spirit resist and -35% healing. Good against tanky heroes.
- Silencer (6,400): +12% spirit resist, -25% enemy spirit damage, and bullets build up a silence. ovvcci's first late pick against spirit-heavy teams.
- Lucky Shot (6,400): 25% chance for bullets to deal +100% bonus weapon damage. ovvcci calls it the best pure gun damage item right now.
- Boundless Spirit (6,400): +30 spirit power and +15% spirit power. It powers Flight's bullets and Assassinate.
- Ricochet (6,400): bullets bounce to 2 nearby enemies at 65% damage. They also apply your on-hit effects like Silencer or Inhibitor. ovvcci says it is for very long games only.
- Defense: upgrade Reactive Barrier to Indomitable, which cleanses the next stun or silence. Add Unstoppable or Cheat Death when you are your team's only carry.
Playing Vindicta on the City Never Sleeps map
Cashcoryy's gameplay on the new map shows how the movement build works in practice. He rarely stays in Flight for long. He ziplines and sprints to rooftops at the edge of a fight, scopes in on whoever drops under half health, and leaves before the enemy can reach him. He also says the scoreboard is misleading. Assassinate only did 200 damage to one Victor, because Victor only had 200 health left when the shot landed.
free Vindicta tips that cost nothing:
- Watch for the purple "ASSASSINATE!" tag anywhere on the map. A target fleeing to base is still a stack.
- Hold the scope for the full 1 s whenever you can. A quick shot deals only half damage.
- Throw Crow before you shoot, not after. The resist cut boosts every bullet you fire afterwards.
- Cashcoryy points out that late in a game, frame drops and enemies flying across the map make snipes harder. Buy some gun damage at the end so you don't depend only on your ultimate.
- If you are dying a lot, you are standing too far forward. Move back.
Vindicta counters: what beats her
To counter Vindicta, punish her when she is in the air. Knockdown is the wiki's listed counter. It stuns after 2 s, and the stun lasts up to 1.5 s longer the higher the target is, maxing out at 30 m. It also raises the target's gravity, and the stun lasts for the whole fall. ovvcci describes Paige players buying a second Knockdown just for him. Plated Armor now blocks Flight's bonus spirit damage too (fixed 16 September). Fast divers that reach her backline, and heroes like Calico, Holliday, Mina and Lash who win lane early, give her the most trouble.
As Vindicta, answer this with your items, not by staying grounded the whole game. Reactive Barrier and later Indomitable soak the stun. The video says Dispel Magic can purge a pending Knockdown. Counterspell lets you parry abilities while flying. Against heavy healers, Crow T1 and Toxic Bullets each cut their healing by 35%.
Is Vindicta good right now? The wiki doesn't rank heroes, so there is no official Deadlock Vindicta tier. What we can say: her kit hasn't changed since 12 August 2026, the October patches mostly added new heroes, and the September nerfs hit items she uses (Trophy Collector, Spiritual Overflow, Mercurial Magnum). She is still a strong pick if you can land shots and stay alive. If you can't, she is a weak one.
How this guide was fact-checked
- From deadlock.wiki (checked 19 October 2026): Vindicta's base stats, every ability value and upgrade, the Assassinate notes (charges, 1 s charge-up, stacks granted within 4 s, pierce, behaviour while scoped), her update history (last change 12 August 2026), all item costs and effects, and the 16 September and 29 September patch notes.
- Corrections to the video: the Assassinate stack window is 4 s, not 5 s. Crow only reduces healing after T1. Trophy Collector now gives 16 souls per minute per stack, not 18. Spiritual Overflow, Mercurial Magnum and Toxic Bullets changed on 16 September, after the upload. Plated Armor now blocks Flight's on-hit damage. The item the video calls APR is named Armor Piercer.
- From the videos only (frame-confirmed where possible): both item builds and skill orders are read from the in-game build browser shown on screen (ovvcci build 544008, Cashcoryy build 870556, updated 10 October 2026). Lane matchups, the 3,500–10,000 souls Trophy Collector estimate, the 4–8 s Walker takedown time and the ~20 damage Mystic Shot test are the creators' own claims, and we label them that way.
- Map advice: ovvcci's footage is from the pre-City Never Sleeps map. The Haunts and Steam Vents notes come from the wiki's 29 September patch page. The zipline note comes from Cashcoryy's post-update gameplay.
What this guide doesn't answer
- Exact damage breakpoints for Assassinate at each spirit power level: they depend on your items and the target's resists, so test them in Sandbox.
- A full matchup list for all heroes: the new City Never Sleeps heroes (Rat King, Baba, Solomon, Deadman Danny, Violet, and Nurse Harrow, due 20 October) are too new for reliable Vindicta matchup data.
- Movement tech like air strafing and slide routes: both videos treat it as a separate skill. A dedicated movement guide covers it better.
- Street Brawl Vindicta: the wiki's item draft weights for that mode are different from a normal game's build.
- Where every Haunt and Steam Vent sits on the new map: that belongs in a map guide, not a hero guide.
Frequently asked
What is the best Vindicta build in Deadlock right now?
For the City Never Sleeps patch (October 2026), start with High-Velocity Rounds into Opening Rounds plus Extra Charge and Extra Spirit, then Rapid Recharge, Quicksilver Reload and movement items like Stamina Mastery, Recharging Rush and Fleetfoot. Finish with Boundless Spirit, Enchanter's Emblem, Counterspell, Burst Fire, Sharpshooter and Spellslinger. That is Cashcoryy's Movement Snipe build (ID 870556). If you prefer fighting from Flight, ovvcci's hybrid build (ID 544008) swaps the movement items for Long Range, Sharpshooter, Hollow Point and late gun items.
What skill order should I use on Vindicta?
Unlock Crow Familiar first, then Flight, Stake and Assassinate, and put the first upgrade into Crow T1 for its -35% healing. For a snipe build, go Assassinate T1 and T2, max Crow, then max Stake, then Assassinate T3, and max Flight last. For a hybrid build that fights from the air, take Flight T1 early and finish Flight before Stake.
How does Vindicta's Assassinate work?
Assassinate is a scoped, hitscan shot with 2 charges and a 55 s cooldown. It deals 90 damage (x0.93 spirit) plus up to 90 bonus damage (x2.3 spirit) against heroes below 50% health. Hold the scope for 1 s for full damage, or the shot deals 50%. If the target dies within 4 seconds of being hit, by anyone, you gain a permanent +6% weapon damage stack.
How do you counter Vindicta in Deadlock?
Buy Knockdown: it stuns after 2 s and the stun lasts up to 1.5 s longer against airborne targets, so it punishes her Flight. Plated Armor also blocks Flight's on-hit spirit damage since the 16 September patch. Divers that reach her back line and strong early laners like Calico, Holliday, Mina and Lash make her life hardest.
Is Trophy Collector still worth it on Vindicta?
Yes, when you are getting kills or assists. Each stack gives 16 souls per minute (down from 18 on 16 September 2026), up to 16 stacks, and stacks persist through death. It also gives -15% weapon damage against NPCs. Buy it first in easy lanes, and take Opening Rounds first against strong lanes or healers.
