## 🎯 The core idea

> A good WARDOGS FOB is not the one with the most walls. It is the one where every wall can be seen from a tower, every entrance makes attackers spend explosives, and the FOB core sits behind several closed doors. Place it on the side away from enemy spawns, wall that side first, put the gates in last, and only then spend supplies on the CIWS, mortar and Talon. Season 02 roughly doubled most build costs, so plan before you swing.

free costs nothing

cheap small cost

setup needs preparation

grind pays off slowly

skip the thing to stop doing

This WARDOGS FOB guide walks through one full forward operating base build in the order you should do it, based on Mattzila 999's 36-minute base guide (uploaded 6 September 2026, during the pre-launch beta, so Season 01 values) and KingpinFTW's 32-minute Season 2 mini FOB build (uploaded 16 October 2026). Every cost below is checked against the official Season 02 patch notes from 14 October 2026. If you want the general mechanics first (what each hammer builds, critical spots, how structures take damage), read the WARDOGS building guide; this page is the step-by-step FOB itself. More WARDOGS guides are on the [WARDOGS game hub](/games/wardogs).

## Where to put your FOB

![WARDOGS forward operating base deployed beside a tower before any walls are built](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0130_v2OMNcY.webp)

free Before you buy anything, decide which direction the enemy will come from. In Mattzila's example his team built at a tower, the two enemy teams would arrive from the east and the south, and his own spawn lay to the west. He put the FOB box on what he calls the dead side: tight against the tower on the side facing his own spawn. That gives three things at once. The tower is indestructible high ground next to your base, the enemy has to cross your walls to reach the box, and the box is harder to hit with artillery fired from the enemy's side.

Towers are popular FOB spots because they are contested, give a vantage point that cannot be knocked down, and are worth holding anyway. The FOB box itself is large, so you cannot tuck it under a tower; walk around with it deployed and look at the footprint before you confirm. KingpinFTW's rule for a small base is similar: place the FOB facing away from the centre of the control zone, so the part of the base you open toward the zone is the part you will wall heaviest.

A FOB is not cheap to start. The Season 1 launch changelog raised the vendor price of the Forward Operating Base from $2,500 to $7,500, and Season 02 did not change it. That money is covered in the [WARDOGS money guide](/guides/wardogs-money).

## Load the supplies in before you build

![WARDOGS supply crate screen with build supplies selected next to the large hammer](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0160_G7YixnO.webp)

cheap Every structure is paid for out of the FOB's own stock of build supplies, so the first job after placing it is to dump everything you carried into it. Bought supply items go in with a right click on the FOB; whole pallets come by truck or helicopter and are deposited the same way. The WARDOGS wiki splits FOB stock into four kinds: build supplies (construct and repair), ammo supplies (mortars and air defence), fuel (drill rig and vehicle stations) and mechanical supplies (some vehicle facilities).

Season 02 changed who can bring the bigger loads. Mechanical, ammo and fuel supply pallets used to be unlocked by default; they now sit on the WARDOG track at level 5 ($10k), level 9 ($25k) and level 16 ($50k). Pallet delivery rewards were cut, but new delivery streaks pay extra for several pallets in a row, so a dedicated logistics player is worth more to a FOB than ever.

There is no official WARDOGS FOB planner tool, in the game or outside it. The closest thing is to add up the costs in the Season 02 section near the end of this page before you start, because a half-built base with no supplies left is worse than a small finished one. KingpinFTW ran out after one truckload with the walls, bunkers and CIWS up and still needed 380 more supplies for his mortar.

## Walls and recon towers on the threat side

![WARDOGS double-high Hesco wall with a recon tower ladder on the outer perimeter](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0250_hvTDr8v.webp)

setup Build the perimeter on the sides the enemy will actually attack from first, and leave the side toward your own spawn for last. Mattzila uses double-high Hesco walls, starting each run tight against an indestructible structure so there is no gap at the joint, and he walks every finished wall from the outside looking for holes an enemy could crawl or shoot through. Any gap you miss, he says, is how the base falls.

A flat wall on its own is a trap: attackers can hug the outside where nobody inside can see them. Break each wall up with recon towers (he calls them bastions) so defenders can shoot down along the face of the wall. One or two towers per wall is his baseline, and he walls in under each tower so nobody can shelter beneath it. Seeing a base with towers also changes how attackers behave; he admits that he rushes wall-only FOBs straight away but slows down and plays carefully against ones with towers.

His walkthrough assumes a large hammer (the level 3 hammer). The Season 1 launch changelog moved the Large Hammer to Support level 8 (the video says level 7) and raised its unlock to $75,000 and its vendor price to $2,400. A medium hammer can do the same layout, just more slowly: Season 02 made the medium hammer contribute less per swing, while the large hammer's rate is unchanged.

## The gate and its two bastions

![WARDOGS gate foundation being placed between two guard towers at the FOB entrance](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0470_3YcCQDV.webp)

setup Gates are the weakest part of any wall, so they go in last, after the threat sides are closed. Put the main gate on the side that faces your road and your spawn, with enough open ground inside for a truck to drive in, turn, drop its load and leave without reversing into the wall.

Flank the gate with two recon towers, one on each side. With only one, attackers can focus that single tower while they blow the gate. With two, anyone at the gate is exposed across 180 degrees instead of 90, and the towers cover each other. Mattzila borrows the castle term for this: two bastions watching the front door.

Season 02 changed how gates and doors are breached. A hammer can no longer open them; the Halligan bar now breaches both doors and gates, and its uses went up from 5 to 7. In practice attackers need a Halligan bar, C4 or IEDs to get through, which is exactly what the next layer is meant to drain.

## Airlocks: never one gate

![WARDOGS FOB airlock with two doors in a row and a shut the doors reminder](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0545_gVlyjjz.webp)

cheap One gate is never enough. Build at least two in a row so the entrance works like an airlock: you open one, step in, close it, then open the next. Random teammates leave doors open, and an open single gate lets an enemy walk straight in, shoot the defenders and destroy or hack the FOB. With two or three in a row, the odds that all of them are open at once drop sharply.

The airlock also helps your towers. The space between the gates is a box your bastions can shoot into, and every door forces attackers to spend another breach charge they will not have once they are inside. Mattzila builds three gates when he plays with friends who keep supplies flowing, and two when he is building alone.

Season 02 pays you to keep the doors shut: closing a door on a friendly FOB now earns $75. Note that doors and gates got much more expensive in the same patch (door 22 to 80 supplies, gate 85 to 200), so a three-gate airlock now costs 600 build supplies before any walls.

## Barbed wire on every dead angle

![WARDOGS barbed wire placed along the FOB wall to block jump-up spots](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_1100_FW0gjgM.webp)

cheap Barbed wire is the cheapest upgrade in the game and the one most FOBs skip. Run a strip along the outside of every wall that no tower can see, so attackers cannot hug the wall out of sight; they have to stand back where your towers can shoot them. Wire also tells you where they are: if you hear it rattle on a side where the minimap shows no friendlies, someone just walked into it.

Put wire wherever an attacker could get a jump-up: on top of bunkers, next to anything low enough to mantle, around the stairs of a tower. Mattzila points out that bunkers are cheaper and give better eye-level views than towers, but they are low enough to climb onto, so they need wire on top. Season 02 helps here: barbed wire and sandbags can now be placed on top of Bremmer walls.

One thing changed for the wire's owner: barbed wire no longer gives cash or XP for kills since Season 02. It is still worth every supply as a defence.

## Bremmer walls stop the vehicle hop

![WARDOGS tall Bremmer concrete walls placed on top of the perimeter Hesco line](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0870_DORNbeS.webp)

setup Double-high Hescos are fine for a first base, but they do not last. Any attacker can park a car or truck against the wall, climb onto it and jump over. You have three fixes, cheapest first: wire along the top, a row of Hesco blocks or sandbags hugged against the inside so climbers have to commit to the mantle, or the full fix, tall Bremmer concrete walls on the outer line (Mattzila mishears them as breachers and bramble walls in the video; the game calls them Bremmer walls).

Nobody jumps a Bremmer wall. A full ring of them also kills sniper angles into the base: from outside, a sniper on a hill can only see a thin strip of your courtyard instead of everything behind a low Hesco line. The catch since Season 02 is the price: a Bremmer wall went from 15 to 32 build supplies, more than double, so start with them on the threat sides and use wire elsewhere.

## Compartments and protecting the FOB core

![WARDOGS FOB core being surrounded with tall Bremmer walls inside the base](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0975_8QVVHR2.webp)

setup The FOB box is the beating heart of the base: every supply, all ammo, everything a truck drops goes into it. Lose it and the walls, mortar and CIWS around it stop mattering. Season 02 raised the stakes: destroying a FOB now pays the attackers a bonus of up to $7,500 and 250 XP, scaled by how many supplies it held (maxed at 25,000), and a FOB hack now also pays every attacker in the radius.

Wall the box in with tall Bremmer walls so mortar and artillery splash cannot reach it easily and nobody can stick C4 to it through a gap, then make the only way to it a door. Do the same across the whole base: cut it into compartments with walls and doors, like slicing a pizza, so attackers who get through the gate face another breach, another choke point and more time under your towers. Lock the stairs of any tower with a door too, and route the way up so an enemy has to walk the long way round under fire.

Finish by fixing your own bunkers. Low firing slits work both ways, so block any slit an enemy could walk up to and shoot through while nobody is manning it, and give the bunker a single door.

## CIWS: raise it and protect the gunner

![WARDOGS CIWS terminal position walled in with double Hesco walls to defend the gunner](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_1330.webp)

setup The Vanguard CIWS is the main reason helicopters leave a FOB alone, and the most expensive defence you will build. Do not put it against an outer wall, where C4 and mortars reach it first, and do not leave it in an open courtyard. Build a platform first and put the CIWS on it: the extra height gives it better line of sight, and mortar or artillery shells that land on the ground no longer hit it directly. Ring the platform with double-high Hescos to soak splash; at that height they do not block its view.

The gunner is the weak point, standing at an exposed terminal. Mattzila adds double Hesco walls on both sides of the terminal so the operator is only visible from a narrow arc. He would build two per base so each covers the other's blind spot. For where to place air defence across the map and how to counter helicopters, see the WARDOGS SAM site guide.

Two corrections to the video. Mattzila quotes the CIWS at 901 build supplies; the Season 02 patch notes give its pre-patch cost as 1,500 and its current cost as 1,200, so budget 1,200. And the 2 October hotfix made the CIWS kill a Havoc in about 6 seconds instead of 12, while Season 02 tuned its damage against structures so it shreds light cover but struggles against heavy fortifications.

## A mortar pit inside the walls

![WARDOGS mortar pit walls being placed as a small compartment inside the FOB](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_1505_jWIvolr.webp)

setup Treat the mortar like a real mortar pit: its own small compartment inside the base with one door, never on the outside of a wall where a thrown grenade or C4 ends the crew. Check what is in front of the tube before you place it. A tall Bremmer wall right in front of a mortar will catch shells aimed at long range, so put the pit far enough back from the wall on the side you will fire toward. Mattzila's test shot near maximum range still cleared his Bremmer wall from a pit set back inside the base.

The same logic applies to the Stingray: give it its own pit away from the outer walls. Both got much pricier in Season 02: the L81 Mortar went from 150 to 600 build supplies, the Stingray from 150 to 650, and each mortar restock now uses 150 munition supplies instead of 75, with a new loading animation that slows the rate of fire. Aiming and range tables are in the WARDOGS mortar guide.

## Talon placement and sandbags

![WARDOGS Talon anti-air launcher behind sandbags on a raised FOB position](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_1660.webp)

setup The Talon anti-air launcher turns a full 360 degrees and, unlike the CIWS, can aim a long way down, so it is the one to put up high: on a raised platform, in a tower section, or on top of a bunker. Mattzila says it locks targets out to about 1 km, which covers most of the hot zone if you built in it; that range is from the video, not the patch notes.

What kills Talon gunners is snipers, because the launcher is loud and you sit in the open spinning around. Wrap it in sandbags (placing them by hand works better than snapping) so only your head shows. If you do get shot at, jumping off throws you clear without fall damage, according to the video.

Season 02 cut the Talon's build cost from 1,000 to 650 supplies, but its reload went from 2 to 5 seconds and a restock now uses 200 munition supplies instead of 50, so it costs far more ammo to keep firing.

## Vehicle stations, drill rigs and the final walk-around

![WARDOGS finished FOB courtyard with CIWS, Hesco walls and concrete barriers](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_2100_JKXcya6.webp)

grind Repair and refill stations can go anywhere inside the base. In the video they serve any vehicle inside the FOB's area, so place them where mortars are least likely to land and wall them in. Mattzila rarely builds them unless he is working with a tank crew.

The drill rig is a late-game build: only after walls, gates, towers, mortar and air defence are done. Fuelled and switched on, it pulls the hot zone to your base, and players in the hot zone count double for the team and earn double cash. Season 02 cut it back hard to stop multi-rig bases: the minimum fuel to start one is 2,000 (up from 1,500; the video already quotes 2,000 from the beta), each unit of fuel buys less time, maximum uptime fell from 375 to 300 seconds, maximum fuel rose to 10,000, and a destroyed rig takes much longer to replace. Mattzila's rig cost of 1,351 build supplies could not be confirmed; the patch notes list no "drill rig" price by that name, only a Hot Zone Magnet raised from 2,250 to 2,750, so check the build menu before you save up. Build each rig away from the outer wall and from the other rig, inside double Hescos with Bremmer walls on top, with one way in.

Then do one last lap of the outside. Look for any spot where someone could climb, any wall no tower can see, and any door left open. Mattzila's summary: threat sides first, towers on every wall, wire in every dead angle, gates as airlocks, doors inside, and the high ground kept for yourself.

## The Season 2 mini FOB for solo and duo players

![WARDOGS large shelter being placed over a FOB for a Season 2 mini FOB build](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_b0650.webp)

setup If there are only one or two of you, a full tower base is out of reach. KingpinFTW's WARDOGS mini FOB packs everything into a small square around the new Large Shelter, which Season 02 added for the medium hammer and up (250 build supplies). His build order:

| Step | What he builds | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Shelter | Large Shelter over the FOB box | covers the FOB core and leaves room under it for a mortar, repair and refill stations or a radio |
| Foundation | three full wooden steps plus one unfinished step all round | a three-quarter Hesco-height base that avoids unsupported foundations |
| Outer wall | Bremmer walls, slanted side out at the back | nobody climbs them; he counts five from the shelter |
| Anti-C4 | a Hesco wall on top of the Bremmers | stops attackers throwing C4 over the wall onto the FOB |
| Bastions | two bunkers on four-Hesco bases, doors facing inward | sightlines down the front and the rear |
| Entrance | hidden way in under a bunker, then three to four doors | the last door is the only jump-up; blow it and an attacker is sealed in |
| Wire | barbed wire facing out, hedgehogs every second piece | slows attackers and keeps them in tower view |
| Top | CIWS on the shelter inside a Hesco ring, Talon on a bunker, optional MG Nest | air defence and 360-degree views |

He also builds a staggered "garage" outside the wall so a logistics driver can unload pallets under cover. Two Season 02 details showed up in his build: unfinished pieces now collapse when they lose support (he got a "structurally unsupported" error and had to skip a piece), and sandbags can now go on top of Bremmer walls. He also notes the CIWS build spots now sit on the turret itself rather than the platform, which makes it faster to build; the patch notes do not mention this.

## What Season 02 changed for FOB building

![WARDOGS CIWS inside a ring of Hesco walls on top of a mini FOB shelter](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_b1720.webp)

skip Stop spamming structures. Season 02 (Update 0.2.0, live 15 October 2026) made a full pass on build cost, speed and durability, aimed in the developers' words at making structures a considered investment. Mattzila's layout still works, but every price he works with is out of date. Current build supply costs from the patch notes:

| Buildable | Season 01 | Season 02 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Bremmer wall | 15 | 32 |
| Door | 22 | 80 |
| Gate | 85 | 200 |
| Bunker, air raid shelter, crow's nest | 100 | 200 |
| Large Shelter (new) | - | 250 |
| MG Nest (new, large hammer) | - | 650 |
| L81 Mortar | 150 | 600 |
| Stingray | 150 | 650 |
| Talon 9K-SAM | 1,000 | 650 |
| Vanguard CIWS | 1,500 | 1,200 |
| Hot Zone Magnet | 2,250 | 2,750 |

Other Season 02 changes that matter for a FOB: the medium hammer builds less per swing and critical spots give a smaller bonus; hammers can no longer breach doors and gates, while the Halligan bar can breach both; foundations now fit properly against slopes, stairs and walls; tank traps only go on certain surfaces; C4 moved to the Assault track and the new Molotov joined it, giving attackers better tools against buildables. The full patch rundown is linked under Read next.

## How this guide was fact-checked

- **Official Season 02 patch notes (14 October 2026):** all build supply costs in the table, the new Large Shelter, Wooden Step and MG Nest and which hammer builds them, medium hammer and critical spot changes, door and gate breaching by Halligan bar only, barbed wire and sandbags on Bremmer walls, barbed wire no longer paying for kills, unfinished buildables collapsing, Talon and mortar restock and reload changes, drill rig fuel and uptime changes, FOB destroy and hack rewards, the $75 door-closed reward, and the supply pallet unlocks on the WARDOG track.
- **Season 1 launch changelog (9 September 2026):** FOB vendor price $7,500 and Large Hammer at Support level 8, $2,400 vendor price. **2 October hotfix:** CIWS kills a Havoc in about 6 seconds.
- **WARDOGS Wiki (Game Mechanics page):** the four supply types, what FOBs can build and how the drill rig pulls the hot zone. The wiki has no page with build costs.
- **Corrections to the video:** CIWS cost 1,200, not 901; Large Hammer at Support level 8, not 7; every Season 01 build price in the video has since roughly doubled except the Talon and CIWS, which got cheaper. The drill rig cost of 1,351 and the Talon's 1 km range are the video's figures only.
- **From the videos only:** layout advice (dead side, bastions, airlocks, compartments, mortar pit spacing), the mini FOB build order and the "garage", and repair stations serving the FOB area.

## What this guide doesn't answer

- **Mortar aiming and range tables:** covered by the mortar guide.
- **How to attack an enemy FOB:** a separate topic; this page only mentions breaching where it explains a defence.
- **Exact supply capacity of a truck or helicopter pallet:** neither the patch notes nor the wiki give it, and the videos do not show it reliably.
- **Map-specific FOB spots:** the right place depends on where the zone and enemy spawns are in your match, so the guide teaches the method instead.

## FAQ

### How do you build a FOB in WARDOGS?

Buy a Forward Operating Base from the vendor ($7,500 since the Season 1 launch), deploy it on the side of your position facing your own spawn, and load all your supplies into it first. Wall the sides the enemy will attack from with Hescos and recon towers, put the gates in last as a two-gate airlock, add barbed wire on every dead angle, then build the CIWS, mortar and Talon inside the walls.

### Where is the best place to put a FOB in WARDOGS?

Next to indestructible high ground such as a tower, on the dead side that faces your own spawn. The enemy then has to cross your walls to reach the FOB box, and it is harder to hit with artillery fired from their side. For a small base, face it away from the centre of the control zone.

### How much does a FOB cost to build in WARDOGS Season 2?

The FOB itself costs $7,500 at the vendor. Season 2 roughly doubled most build supply costs: Bremmer wall 32, door 80, gate 200, bunker 200, Large Shelter 250, L81 Mortar 600, Stingray 650, MG Nest 650, Talon 650 and Vanguard CIWS 1,200 build supplies.

### What is the WARDOGS mini FOB?

A compact solo or duo base built around the Large Shelter added in Season 2. KingpinFTW's version uses a three-quarter-height foundation of wooden steps, a ring of Bremmer walls topped with Hescos so C4 cannot be thrown over, two bunkers as bastions, a hidden entrance with several doors, and a CIWS on top of the shelter.

### How do you stop enemies getting into your WARDOGS base?

Use at least two gates in a row so one is always shut, flank the gate with two towers, put barbed wire wherever someone could hug a wall or jump up, and use tall Bremmer walls so nobody can climb over from a parked vehicle. Since Season 2 hammers can no longer breach doors and gates, so attackers need a Halligan bar, C4 or IEDs for every door.
