## 🎯 The core idea

> Yone is a melee crit carry who trades with his body left behind. Soul Unbound (E) lets him dash in, hit, and snap back to safety, and every hit while it is active stores true damage that lands when he returns. Learn when to spend E, when to hold Q3, and which crit items fit the game, and Yone wins lanes and fights that most melee champions cannot take.

This League of Legends Yone guide is built on WayOfTheTempest's January 2026 video (uploaded 10 January 2026, recorded on the PBE and early patch 26.1), which covers the start of the season and his four builds. We checked every kit and item number against the official League of Legends Wiki and Riot's patch notes up to 26.21, and a lot has changed since January: Yone's crit penalty was cut to 5% in 26.17, his Q was buffed in 26.3 and nerfed back in 26.21, and the mid role quest was reworked in 26.9. Each correction is named where it applies. The video calls this Yone Season 16; Riot's name for it is Season 2026. If you are new to Yone, read it top to bottom as a Yone beginner guide; if you already play him, jump to the combos, E tips and build sections.

Yone shares his passive structure with his brother, so our [Yasuo guide](/guides/lol-yasuo-guide) is a useful comparison. For lane basics see the [mid lane guide](/guides/lol-mid-lane-guide) and the [top lane guide](/guides/lol-top-lane-guide).

## What Yone is good at, and where he struggles

![Yone walking up to the mid lane minion wave in the early game](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0045_sgEBdJd.webp)

Yone is a mobile melee duelist who plays mid and top. He has no mana or energy, his Q gets faster with attack speed, and his damage is split between physical, magic and true, so a single armor item does not shut him down. His biggest strength is that he can take a trade and leave it on his own terms: E sends him forward and then pulls him back to where he started.

| Strength | Matching weakness |
| --- | --- |
| E lets him trade and return to safety | E has a 22-second cooldown at rank 1; without it he is a plain melee champion |
| Mixed physical, magic and true damage | Builds mostly damage, so he dies fast when caught |
| Q3 and R knock up or pull several enemies | Hard crowd control on him stops the follow-up |
| Q, W and attacks scale with attack speed and crit | Weak before his first item against ranged champions who poke him |

How to play Yone in one sentence: farm safely until your first item, use E for trades only when the enemy's key spell is down, and look for R on two or more enemies in teamfights.

## Way of the Hunter: crit doubling and the two swords

![Yone critically striking an enemy in a lane fight inside the minion wave](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0870_yVXV4JX.webp)

free Yone's passive has two parts, and both decide how you build him.

**Intent (crit).** His total critical strike chance is doubled, so two crit items (25% each, for example Immortal Shieldbow and Infinity Edge) already give him 100%. Every 1% of crit chance above 100% turns into 0.5 bonus attack damage, so a third crit item is not wasted. The cost: Yone's crits deal only 95% of the critical damage other champions get. The video does not mention this penalty. Patch 26.1 added it at 10%, and patch 26.17 cut it to 5% for both Yone and Yasuo; Riot's 26.17 notes say both brothers had been too reliant on snowballing.

**Steel and Spirit (two swords).** His basic attacks alternate between the Steel Sword and the Azakana Sword. Every second attack deals half physical and half magic damage. Both halves count as attacks, so life steal works on all of them.

Base stats from the wiki for patch 26.21: 620 health (+105 per level), 62 attack damage, 33 armor, 345 move speed and 175 attack range.

## Mortal Steel (Q) and Q3: the core of every Yone combo

![Yone casting Mortal Steel, the cast bar visible under his health bar](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0620_9q4kYLe.webp)

Q is a short thrust in a line (450 range). It can crit, and it applies on-hit effects to the first enemy it hits. Bonus attack speed lowers both its cooldown (4 seconds down to 1.33) and its cast time (0.35 down to 0.175 seconds). Each hit gives a Gathering Storm stack for 6 seconds. With two stacks, the next Q becomes Q3: Yone dashes forward and sends out a whirlwind that knocks up every enemy in its path for 0.75 seconds. The Q3 dash can cross terrain.

Current numbers (official wiki, patch 26.21):

| Ability | Key numbers | What to remember |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Q – Mortal Steel | 25/50/75/100/125 (+105% AD), can crit; 4 s → 1.33 s cooldown with bonus attack speed | Q3 range 1050, knock-up 0.75 s |
| W – Spirit Cleave | 10/20/30/40/50 + 8–12% of the target's max health, half physical, half magic; 14 s → 6 s cooldown | Shield 40–96 (+65% bonus AD), doubled on a champion hit |
| E – Soul Unbound | Cooldown 22/19/16/13/10 s; Spirit Form lasts 5 s | Stores 25–35% of the damage dealt and repeats it as true damage when Yone returns |
| R – Fate Sealed | 200/400/600 (+80% bonus AD), half physical, half magic; cooldown 120/100/80 s; range 1000 | Stuns, pulls and knocks up every enemy in the line |

cheap Q's AD ratio has moved twice this year. Patch 26.3 raised it from 105% to 110% AD, and patch 26.21 put it back to 105%. Riot's 26.21 note says the earlier buffs got Yone buying crit in his first items but left him too strong. Any guide or video from between those patches is using the higher number.

Habits that matter: stack Q on minions so you walk into trades with Q3 ready, aim Q3 through the wave so it hits minions and the champion behind them, and don't throw Q3 just because it is up. A held Q3 threatens the enemy; a missed one gives them a free window.

## Spirit Cleave (W): the shield that wins short trades

![Yone casting Spirit Cleave in the mid lane minion wave](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0900_rLdyfqt.webp)

W cleaves in a cone (600 range, 80 degrees) in front of Yone. The damage is based on the target's maximum health, which makes it good against tanks and bruisers. If it hits anything, Yone gets a shield for 1.5 seconds. The shield doubles when W hits a champion and grows by 50% for each extra champion hit, so a W into two champions is a big shield.

How to use it:

- **Trade with it, not after it.** Cast W as the enemy starts to hit back, so the shield absorbs their answer.
- **Aim at the champion.** A W that only hits minions gives the small shield. W cannot hit targets whose center is behind Yone.
- **It gets faster with attack speed.** The cast time drops from 0.5 to 0.19 seconds and the cooldown from 14 to 6 seconds, which is part of why every Yone build has attack speed.

Most players max W last. On the stats-site snapshot below, the most common skill order is Q, W, E for the first three levels, then max Q, then E, then W, with R at 6, 11 and 16.

## Soul Unbound (E): Yone E tips for safe trades and kills

![Yone finishing a skirmish near the river in the mid game](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0960_JhKTb01.webp)

E is what makes Yone unique, and most Yone tips are really E tips. When you cast it, Yone dashes forward through terrain and leaves his body behind. For 5 seconds he is in Spirit Form: ghosted, with 10% to 30% bonus move speed. Every attack and ability he lands on an enemy champion marks them and stores 25% to 35% of the damage (after armor and magic resist). When Spirit Form ends, or when you recast E, Yone dashes back to his body and every mark bursts for that stored amount as true damage.

Facts from the wiki that change how you play it:

- **The mark shows when it will kill.** If the stored damage is more than the target's current health, the mark looks different. That is your cue to recast E for the kill.
- **Marks only store damage from Yone's attacks and abilities.** Ignite, item actives and rune damage don't count.
- **The marks pop on their own if the target dies**, and the true damage can't be dodged by going untargetable.
- **E is on cooldown for the first 15 seconds of the game**, and Recall and Teleport are disabled while it is active.
- **One second before the automatic return,** a dark pulse and a sound cue play for Yone only. Use that second to place your last hit.
- **The return no longer cleanses crowd control.** Before patch 25.07 the recast removed stuns and roots; it does not anymore. It still makes Yone immune to knock-ups and other displacements during the return.
- **The auto-return waits for you.** It is delayed if you are winding up an attack or casting an ability, so a Q3 late in Spirit Form gives you one extra auto attack before you return.

skip The common mistake is opening every fight with E. Without it Yone has no safe way out, and at rank 1 it is down for 22 seconds. In lane, use E when the enemy has just used the spell that would punish you, then come back before their cooldowns are up again.

Good uses: E forward over a wall to cut off an escape, E in to start an all-in and recast early to dodge a gank, or E away and wait for Spirit Form to run out so you land back in the fight with the true damage.

## Fate Sealed (R) and the Yone ult combo

![Yone casting Fate Sealed, the cast bar shown over his ability bar in mid lane](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0850_UgqPeGf.webp)

Fate Sealed has a 0.75-second cast time. Then Yone blinks behind the furthest enemy champion hit (or to max range), stuns everyone in the line for up to 1 second, and pulls them toward himself before knocking them up for 0.75 seconds. Two details from the wiki matter for every Yone ult combo:

- **Flash is disabled while R is casting.** "R Flash" does not work. Flash first to get in range, then cast R.
- **Abilities pressed during R's 0.45-second lockout come out right at the end of it.** Press Q3 or W during the lockout and they fire as soon as you land.

The video teaches builds rather than combos, so the table below is ours, built from the wiki's mechanics:

| Combo | Inputs | When to use it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Basic trade | Auto → Q → auto | Every trade; the Q fits between your auto attacks |
| Shield trade | Auto → Q → W → auto | When the enemy is going to hit back |
| Spirit all-in | E → Q3 → auto → W → auto → recast E | Kill pressure when E is up and they are in range |
| Q3 Flash | Q3, then Flash during the dash | The dash stops early but hits enemies around your new position |
| Ult combo | E → R → Q3 / W (pressed during the lockout) → autos → recast E | Teamfights; E first stores true damage from everything that follows |
| Long-range engage | Flash → R → Q3 | When R alone is out of range; Flash before the cast, never during |

**Yone animation cancel.** There is no single magic cancel; what feels like one is just weaving. Cast Q and W in the gap after an auto attack lands and before the next one starts, and press your next spell before the current one ends so it is buffered. More bonus attack speed shortens Q and W cast times, so the weave gets tighter as you build.

## What Season 2026 changed for Yone (and what changed again since)

![The role quest table from early 2026 shown in the video, with point sources per role](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0010_OPYbXVl.webp)

The video opens with the season changes, and the table it shows is the patch 26.1 version. Several parts have changed since:

| Video (January 2026) | Current (patch 26.21) |
| --- | --- |
| Mid quest: free Tier 3 boots plus an empowered recall every few minutes | Patch 26.9 removed the empowered recall and gave 6% bonus AD and AP instead; 26.11 raised it to 8% |
| Berserker's upgrade gives 40% attack speed and 5% life steal | Gunmetal Greaves now gives 45% attack speed (raised in 26.16), 5% life steal and 45 move speed |
| In-lane actions earn double quest points, roaming earns half | Since 26.9 the out-of-lane penalty starts at 75% and shrinks as the quest fills, and time in lane banks up to 60 seconds of roam grace |
| Top quest: level 20 and more experience | Still true, plus a free Unleashed Teleport (or a stronger Teleport if you took it) |
| Atakhan removed, epic monsters tankier | Confirmed in the 26.1 notes; Baron now spawns at 20:00 |

Two video details need a correction. The auto-captions say the season "removed Fleet Footwork", but in context he means Feats of Strength: patch 26.1 removed Feats, Atakhan and Blood Roses, while the Fleet Footwork rune is still in the game (he recommends it himself later). The crystals he hits on the turret are Crystalline Overgrowth: they appear after a 90-second startup, grow stronger over the next few minutes and burst for true damage on the next champion attack. The "ward shrines" are Faelights, which turn a ward placed on them into a superward with extra vision. The full list is in our [role quests guide](/guides/lol-role-quests-guide).

## Best Yone build for patch 26.21: items, runes and spells

![The video's four Yone item sets in the client: Bork, Kraken, PD-IE with Conqueror and Stormrazor](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0270_idK8E1s.webp)

The video shows four item sets. They are the creator's choices from January, and the item numbers next to them are from the current wiki:

| Video build | Path (video) | When the video takes it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1. Bork (main) | Berserker's → Blade of the Ruined King → Immortal Shieldbow → Lord Dominik's Regards → Death's Dance | Default; into high-health targets and fighters such as Yasuo and Irelia |
| 2. Kraken | Berserker's → Kraken Slayer → Shieldbow → Lord Dominik's → Death's Dance | Into squishy teams that build no health |
| 3. PD-IE Conqueror | Phantom Dancer → Infinity Edge → Plated Steelcaps or Mercury's Treads → Death's Dance → Bloodthirster | Into assassins such as Zed and Evelynn |
| 4. Stormrazor (experimental) | Fleet Footwork, Stormrazor → Infinity Edge → Death's Dance → Bloodthirster | Hard ranged lanes such as LeBlanc and Aurora; the video says it still needed testing |

**Current item stats (wiki, 26.21):** Blade of the Ruined King 3200 g (40 AD, 25% attack speed, 10% life steal), Immortal Shieldbow 3000 g (55 AD, 25% crit), Infinity Edge 3500 g (75 AD, 25% crit, +30% crit damage), Lord Dominik's Regards 3300 g (35 AD, 35% armor penetration, 25% crit, up to 15% more damage to high-health champions), Death's Dance 3300 g, Kraken Slayer 3000 g, Phantom Dancer 2650 g, Stormrazor 3200 g.

**Infinity Edge vs Lord Dominik's.** The video's case for Lord Dominik's third is real: patch 26.1 cut Infinity Edge's crit damage bonus from 40% to 30% and gave Lord Dominik's the Giant Slayer passive. Two corrections: the video calls the Infinity Edge change a crit chance nerf, but Infinity Edge still gives 25% crit chance; it was the crit damage bonus that dropped. And Lord Dominik's is 200 gold cheaper than Infinity Edge (3300 vs 3500), not 100.

**What players build on 26.21 (stats snapshot).** Since January, the 26.17 crit buff has pulled Yone toward crit-first builds. On op.gg's Emerald+ data for patch 26.21 (checked 23 October 2026), the most common completed builds were:

| Lane | Most common core | Second most common | Boots and start |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Mid | Shieldbow → Infinity Edge → Death's Dance | Bork → Shieldbow → Infinity Edge | Berserker's Greaves (96%), Doran's Bow start (74%) |
| Top | Bork → Shieldbow → Infinity Edge | Shieldbow → Infinity Edge → Death's Dance | Berserker's Greaves (95%), Doran's Bow start (83%) |

Late slots in that data are mostly Death's Dance, Guardian Angel, Bloodthirster, Mortal Reminder, Lord Dominik's and Wit's End. Treat this as a snapshot of one patch, not a fixed best Yone build lol players must follow. A practical rule: buy Bork first into tanks and bruisers, Shieldbow first into burst lanes, and pick Lord Dominik's over Infinity Edge when two or more enemies build armor.

**Yone runes (26.21 snapshot, matches the video's Lethal Tempo default):**

| Slot | Most common | Swap |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Keystone | Lethal Tempo (79% mid, 94% top) | Fleet Footwork into poke lanes and with Stormrazor; Conqueror with the video's PD-IE assassin build |
| Precision | Absorb Life, Legend: Alacrity, Last Stand | Triumph instead of Absorb Life; Cut Down into tanks |
| Resolve | Second Wind, Overgrowth | Bone Plating into burst; Shield Bash pairs with W's shield |
| Shards | Attack speed, adaptive force, scaling health | Flat health in hard lanes |

**Summoner spells:** Flash plus Exhaust is the most common pair in both lanes (42% mid, 54% top), then Flash plus Ignite. Exhaust answers assassins and duelists; Ignite adds kill pressure and anti-healing.

## Stormrazor and the anti-assassin build

![Stormrazor tooltip in the video's item set: 3200 gold, attack damage, attack speed and crit](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0310_sys8s66.webp)

setup The video's two side builds are matchup tools, not defaults.

**Stormrazor.** The video calls it a likely bait item at 3200 gold for 50 AD and 20% attack speed. That changed in 26.17: Stormrazor now gives 25% attack speed, plus 25% crit and its Bolt (a fully Energized attack deals 100 bonus magic damage and gives 45% move speed for 1.5 seconds). It still costs 3200. The video's idea of pairing it with Fleet Footwork for in-and-out trades against LeBlanc, Aurora or Zed is reasonable, but on the 26.21 data it is a rare pick.

**PD-IE with Conqueror.** Against assassins the video goes Phantom Dancer and Infinity Edge, then armor or magic resist boots and Death's Dance, so Yone gets tanky quickly. It points out the catch: in mid you must finish Tier 2 boots to get the free quest upgrade, which delays a three-item spike without boots.

skip The item the captions call "Yone Soul" appears to be Yun Tal Wildarrows (the 55 to 50 AD change he reads matches Yun Tal's 26.1 change). It does not give life steal, despite what the video says on stream, and the current wiki has it at 50 AD and 45% attack speed for 3000 gold. Almost no Yone builds it on 26.21.

## Yone mid guide: laning and the mid role quest

![Chat showing Yone's mid quest complete at 10:20 with Blade of the Ruined King bought](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0790_AEpbDjb.webp)

For Yone laning in mid, your goals are simple: farm with Q, stack Q3 on the wave, and trade only when the enemy's key spell is down. Melee champions earn 3% of their champion damage as mid quest points (ranged earn 1.5%), so Yone's trades also fill the quest faster.

In the video, the quest completes at 10:20 in a game where he had four solo kills and had just bought Bork and Berserker's Greaves. The Berserker's upgrade to Gunmetal Greaves is free, and with Bork and Doran's Blade he points out how much sustain that gives: 10% life steal from Bork plus 5% from the boots, which let him stay in lane without recalling. The mid quest now also adds 8% bonus AD and AP. That timing is fast because of the kills; our [mid lane guide](/guides/lol-mid-lane-guide) puts a normal finish at around 12 to 14 minutes.

Practical mid lane rules:

- **Before your first item, respect ranged poke.** Mid mages can hit you before Q reaches them. Last-hit with Q and keep your health.
- **Use the wave as cover.** Q through minions to keep stacking Q3, and keep it ready when the enemy jungler might show up.
- **Spike on Bork plus boots, or Shieldbow plus boots.** That is when to look for E all-ins.

If you face Ahri, her charm can catch you on the way in or stop your E return path; our [Ahri guide](/guides/lol-ahri-guide) shows the mage side of that lane.

## Yone top guide: playing the longer lane

![Crystalline Overgrowth crystals on a lane turret, which burst for true damage on the next champion attack](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0070_94HOkqG.webp)

Yone is played in top lane almost as often as mid, and the same build and combos apply. What changes is the lane. Top is longer and full of melee bruisers who win long trades, so short trades matter more: Q, W for the shield, back out. Use E trades only when you can come back before the enemy's cooldowns are up again.

The top quest needs 1,200 points and gives level 20, bonus experience and a free Unleashed Teleport (details in our [top lane guide](/guides/lol-top-lane-guide)). That suits Yone, who scales with levels and items and wants to split push.

**Turret pushing.** Yone is good at it. The video points out that the Crystalline Overgrowth on turrets rewards whoever hits the turret after it has built up (his first hit did about 500 damage), and that plates give gold when you split push. Each lane turret has five plates worth 120 gold each to the champions who take them. The video also says plates get bigger as the game goes on; we could not confirm that in the patch notes or on the wiki, so treat it as his impression.

## Yone matchups and counters

![Yone trading with Katarina in mid lane, the matchup the video calls its mental block](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0560_lUJj0j1.webp)

The video names its tough opponents rather than giving a full list. It calls Katarina its "mental block" matchup (he plays her in the video), and picks different builds against assassins (Zed, Evelynn), against hard ranged lanes (LeBlanc, Aurora, Zed again) and against fighters (Yasuo, Irelia).

For Yone counters lol players search for, here is what the op.gg data for patch 26.21 (Emerald+) shows. Small samples swing a lot, so we only list matchups with enough games:

| Lane | Harder for Yone (Yone win rate, games) | Easier for Yone (Yone win rate, games) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Mid | Annie (37%, 229), Vex (41%, 387), Pantheon (42%, 171) | Aurelion Sol (59%, 164) |
| Top | Renekton (45%, 994), Irelia (44%, 616) | Mordekaiser (55%, 610), Rumble (58%, 199) |

The pattern behind those numbers: Yone struggles against champions with reliable point-and-click or area crowd control (Annie, Vex, Pantheon) and against melee bruisers who out-trade him early (Renekton, Irelia). He does well against champions who can't stop him once he is on them. Unlike Yasuo, Yone has no Wind Wall, so projectile poke is something he dodges with E and Q3 rather than blocks. Overall win rate on 26.21 was 49.6% in mid and 48.8% top.

## Mid game, late game and Yone teamfight rules

![Yone hitting Baron Nashor with Mortal Steel during a solo test](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0150_fCQxZKW.webp)

After lane, Yone wants side lanes, where he can split push and threaten turrets, and grouped fights, where R can hit several enemies at once. Keep him near the next objective so you can join a fight in time.

Rules for a Yone teamfight:

- **Wait for the cooldowns.** Let the enemy use their crowd control on someone else first; Yone is the follow-up, not the first one in, unless R can hit three or more.
- **E before R.** Starting Spirit Form before R means everything after it stores true damage, and you have a way back to your body when the fight turns.
- **R through the line.** R hits every enemy in a 1000-unit line and blinks you behind the furthest champion hit. Aim it through the front line into the carries, but check where you will land.
- **Front to back when the backline is out of reach.** With Death's Dance or Shieldbow you can hit whoever is in range and wait for Q3 or R to reach further.

The video's Baron test shows the 2026 change: epic monsters are tankier this season (the 26.1 notes say 10–30% longer to kill), so don't plan a quick Baron with only two people.

## How this guide was fact-checked

- **Official League of Legends Wiki (Yone page and patch history; item pages)**: base stats, every ability number in the tables (Q 105% AD and 0.75 s knock-up, W damage and shield, E cooldowns and 25–35% stored damage, R damage, cast time, Flash lockout and 0.45 s buffer window), the 95% crit rule, mark behaviour, the 25.07 removal of E's cleanse, and stats and costs for Blade of the Ruined King, Immortal Shieldbow, Infinity Edge, Lord Dominik's Regards, Death's Dance, Kraken Slayer, Phantom Dancer, Stormrazor, Yun Tal Wildarrows and Berserker's Greaves.
- **Riot patch notes 26.1–26.21**: 26.1 crit changes (Yone penalty added, Infinity Edge crit damage 40% → 30%, Lord Dominik's Giant Slayer), role quests, Atakhan and Feats removal, Crystalline Overgrowth and Faelights; 26.3 Q buff to 110% AD; 26.17 crit penalty 10% → 5% and Stormrazor attack speed 20% → 25%; 26.21 Q back to 105% AD. The 26.21 Yone R change in the notes is in the Arena section and does not affect Summoner's Rift.
- **Our own mid and top lane guides (checked against the wiki)**: mid quest rewards after 26.9 and 26.11, Gunmetal Greaves 45% attack speed after 26.16, top quest rewards.
- **Stats snapshot**: op.gg, Emerald+, patch 26.21 (labelled 16.21 on the site), checked 23 October 2026, for runes, spells, skill order, common builds and matchup win rates. Labelled as a snapshot; it will move.
- **From the video (WayOfTheTempest, 10 January 2026)**: the four item sets, when to use each one, the Fleet-plus-Stormrazor idea, the matchup names, the quest timing at 10:20 and the life steal point.
- **Corrections to the video**: the crit penalty it doesn't mention (5% since 26.17); the Infinity Edge nerf was crit damage, not crit chance; Lord Dominik's costs 200 gold less than Infinity Edge, not 100; Stormrazor now has 25% attack speed, not 20%; Gunmetal Greaves now gives 45% attack speed, not 40%; the mid quest's empowered recall was removed in 26.9; "Fleet Footwork" in the captions should be Feats of Strength; Yun Tal Wildarrows has no life steal. The combo table is ours, since the video does not teach combos.

## What this guide doesn't answer

- **Jungle or bot lane Yone.** Rare picks with different item timings; this guide covers mid and top.
- **Every single matchup.** We list the ones the video names and the ones with enough games on 26.21; a full list would go stale each patch.
- **Arena, ARAM: Mayhem and Classic Yone.** Those modes change his numbers (for example, R's cooldown in Arena) and need their own builds.
- **The video's paid guides.** The creator advertises paid "Bibles"; we only used the free video.
- **Skins.** HEARTSTEEL Live My Life Yone arrived in 26.20, but skins do not change his kit.

## FAQ

### What is the best Yone build in 2026?

On patch 26.21 the most common Yone builds start with Berserker's Greaves and either Immortal Shieldbow into Infinity Edge and Death's Dance (most common in mid) or Blade of the Ruined King into Shieldbow and Infinity Edge (most common in top), per op.gg Emerald+ data. Buy Bork first into tanks and bruisers, Shieldbow first into burst, and take Lord Dominik's Regards over Infinity Edge when two or more enemies build armor.

### What runes should Yone take?

Lethal Tempo with Absorb Life, Legend: Alacrity and Last Stand, plus Second Wind and Overgrowth from Resolve, is the standard page on 26.21. Shards are attack speed, adaptive force and scaling health. Swap to Fleet Footwork into poke lanes, Conqueror with a Phantom Dancer and Infinity Edge build against assassins, and Bone Plating into burst.

### How does Yone's E work?

Soul Unbound dashes Yone forward and leaves his body behind for 5 seconds. Every attack and ability he lands on a champion stores 25 to 35% of the damage, which bursts as true damage when he returns to his body, either when you recast E or when time runs out. The mark changes look when the stored damage would kill, recall and Teleport are disabled during it, and since patch 25.07 the return no longer cleanses crowd control.

### What is the main Yone ult combo?

E, then R, then press Q3 or W during R's short lockout so they fire as soon as you land, auto attack, and recast E to return with the stored true damage. Flash is disabled while R is casting, so if R is out of range, Flash first and then cast R; R Flash does not work.

### Do Yone's crits deal less damage?

Yes. Yone's crit chance from items is doubled, so 50% crit from two items gives him 100%, but his critical strikes deal only 95% of normal crit damage. Patch 26.1 introduced a 10% penalty and patch 26.17 reduced it to 5%, the same change Yasuo got.
