# Jinx Guide: How to Play Jinx ADC, Build and Combos

> Jinx wins by farming a calm lane, landing the first takedown and shooting from the back of every fight. This guide covers her kit with current wiki numbers, the video's Lethal Tempo crit build checked against patch 26.21, combos, matchups, supports and how the ADC seventh item slot changes her late game.

## 🎯 The core idea

> Jinx is a late-game hyper carry who wins by staying alive and turning one takedown into a teamfight. Farm a calm lane, poke with rockets when the enemy steps up, finish your role quest for the seventh item slot, then stand at the back and shoot whatever is in front of you. Her E and W keep threats off you; her rocket executes from anywhere.

free costs nothing

cheap small cost

setup needs preparation

grind pays off slowly

skip the thing to stop doing

This Jinx guide is built on the "3 Minute Jinx Guide" by 3 Minute League of Legends (uploaded 7 February 2026, patch 26.3), checked against the official League of Legends Wiki and Riot's patch notes up to 26.21. The video is short, so the numbers, item stats and patch changes below come from those official sources, and the build, runes and matchup picks are credited to the video. Some players call this Jinx Season 16; Riot's name for it is Season 2026. If you are new to League of Legends, read it as a Jinx beginner guide from top to bottom; if you already play her, jump to the build and teamfight sections.

## Why play Jinx: strengths and weaknesses

![Jinx title card listing her pros: late game carry, teamfight beast, insane passive](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0005_sgPTHrl.webp)

free Jinx is a ranged marksman with almost no mobility and very high damage once the game goes long. The video sums her up as a late-game carry, a teamfight beast and a champion with an outstanding passive, and that matches her kit:

| Strength | Weakness |
| --- | --- |
| Very high sustained damage late, with rocket splash in fights | Weak early game compared with lane bullies |
| Get Excited! turns one takedown into speed and attack speed | No dash or blink, so she relies on Flash, traps and her support |
| Global ultimate that executes low-health targets | Assassins and divers who reach her kill her fast |
| Long range with Fishbones for poke and sieging | Rockets cost mana, so she can run dry in lane |

Riot's own notes back up how strong she has been this year. The 26.4 patch notes called her one of the big winners of the new season after crits got stronger (most champions' base crit damage became 200% in 26.1), and the 26.21 notes describe her as dominant in the meta and trimmed her base stats. She is still one of the most played ADCs in solo queue, helped by Arcane.

## Get Excited!: how Jinx's passive works

![Get Excited! passive tooltip in practice tool: 175% decaying move speed and 25% attack speed per stack](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0018_xItS4zn.webp)

free Jinx's passive, Get Excited!, triggers when she scores a takedown on an enemy champion, an epic monster, a turret or an inhibitor within 3 seconds of damaging it. Each trigger gives:

- 175% bonus movement speed, decaying over 6 seconds.
- A stack of 25% total attack speed for the same 6 seconds, up to 5 stacks (125%).
- Permission to go over the normal attack speed cap while it lasts.

Only champion takedowns add stacks beyond the first. A turret or Dragon gives you one stack; five champion takedowns in a fight give five. The video's point is simple: get the first takedown and the rest of the fight gets easier, because each kill speeds you up and makes you shoot faster. Assists count, so you only need to have hit the target in the last 3 seconds, not land the killing blow. The wiki also notes that killing a summoned Rift Herald triggers it.

## Switcheroo! (Q): rocket vs minigun

![Jinx firing a Fishbones rocket at a practice dummy to show Switcheroo! (Q)](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0052_PsYPetS.webp)

free Q swaps between two weapons with a 0.9-second cooldown. Knowing when to use each is the core skill of a Jinx player, so here is Jinx rocket vs minigun in one table (wiki values, ranks 1 to 5):

| | Pow-Pow (minigun) | Fishbones (rocket launcher) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Attack speed | Rev'd up stacks, up to 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 / 130% bonus at 3 stacks | Loses 10% of your bonus attack speed |
| Range | 525 | +100 / 125 / 150 / 175 / 200 |
| Damage | Normal attacks | 110% AD to the target and enemies around it (250 radius) |
| Cost | Free | 20 mana per attack |

Each Pow-Pow attack adds a Rev'd up stack for 2.5 seconds, up to three. As the video says, the first stack is worth twice each of the next two (the wiki lists the later stacks at 50% effectiveness). Stacks fall off one by one, and only the first rocket after switching keeps the minigun's attack speed.

Use the minigun on single targets in range and to last hit when your mana matters. Use rockets to poke an enemy who stands just out of minigun range, to hit groups of minions or champions, and against turrets, since the splash also hits structures. Rocket splash is affected by crits, which is why a crit build makes late-game rockets so strong.

## Zap! (W) and Flame Chompers! (E)

![Jinx throwing Flame Chompers! (E) traps at a target dummy in practice tool](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0062_V3UgGym.webp)

setup Zap! is a 1,500-range shock blast that hits the first enemy, reveals them and slows them by 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80% for 2 seconds. It deals 10 / 60 / 110 / 160 / 210 physical damage plus 140% AD, and its cast time drops from 0.6 to 0.4 seconds as you gain bonus attack speed. Throw it from behind your minions only when the path is clear; any minion in the way takes the hit.

Flame Chompers! are Jinx traps: three chompers land at the target spot, arm after 0.5 seconds and explode on their own after 5 seconds. A champion who steps on one takes 90 / 140 / 190 / 240 / 290 magic damage (plus 100% AP), is knocked down and is rooted for 1.5 seconds. It costs 90 mana and has a 24 to 10 second cooldown, so it is your main self-peel. Throw it at your own feet when a diver comes in, in a choke when you retreat, or on top of an enemy your support has already stunned.

## Super Mega Death Rocket! (R)

![Jinx casting Super Mega Death Rocket! with the ultimate cast bar showing](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0070_WevozoR.webp)

cheap Jinx's ultimate is a global rocket that explodes on the first enemy champion it hits. Its damage scales with how far it flew: 10% at the start, 100% after 1,500 units (the video says "about your screen length"; the wiki gives 1,500 units, the same as Zap!'s range, about 0.85 seconds of flight). On top of that it deals 25 / 30 / 35% of the target's missing health, which is not reduced by distance. Enemies around the target take 80%.

The cooldown is 85 / 65 / 45 seconds. Since the video, Riot has cut its base damage twice: 25.23 and 26.1 lowered the maximum to 200 / 350 / 500 plus 120% bonus AD. So it is an execute, not a nuke. Fire it at low-health targets, at a fleeing enemy across the map, or into a fight that is already happening, where the missing-health damage is high. It also gives vision as it flies and around the explosion.

## Jinx combos for lane and all-ins

![Jinx all-in combo shown as auto attack, E, R, W, then more auto attacks](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0082_K4gdIWc.webp)

free Most of Jinx's damage is basic attacks, so the video's advice is to just keep attacking and use abilities to slow, root or execute as needed. The fun all-in it shows, and a reliable Jinx combo, is:

1. Auto-attack to start the trade.
2. E at the enemy's feet, or slightly behind them if they're running.
3. R while they are rooted, so the rocket can't miss.
4. W as the root ends, to slow them again.
5. Keep auto-attacking.

The lane version is shorter: when your support lands crowd control, throw E on the stunned target, then W, and keep shooting. The enemy has no time to walk off the chompers, so the root is almost free. Do it with rockets if they are at the edge of your range.

## Best Jinx runes, summoner spells and skill order

![Jinx rune page: Lethal Tempo, Presence of Mind, Legend: Bloodline, Coup de Grace, Absolute Focus, Gathering Storm](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0097_i1O2ZMU.webp)

setup These are the runes and summoners the video recommends, which still fit on patch 26.21:

| Slot | Choice |
| --- | --- |
| Keystone | Lethal Tempo |
| Precision | Presence of Mind, Legend: Bloodline, Coup de Grace |
| Sorcery (secondary) | Absolute Focus, Gathering Storm |
| Shards | Attack speed, adaptive force, scaling health |
| Summoner spells | Flash and Barrier |

The video calls Lethal Tempo "just too good" for her. For ranged champions it gives 4.8% attack speed per stack, up to 28.8% at 6 stacks, and at full stacks each attack fires an extra bolt whose damage grows with your bonus attack speed. With Get Excited! active, Jinx can go past the attack speed cap, and the bolt's damage keeps growing with that extra attack speed.

Barrier blocks 100 to about 500 damage (based on level) for 2.5 seconds on a 180-second cooldown and stops a burst that would kill you. The wiki notes that Heal is the more common bot lane spell because it also heals your support; take Heal if your lane is a long poke fight, and Barrier against assassins and all-in lanes.

free The video's skill order: Q at level 1, W at level 2, E at level 3, then max Q, then W, then E, and take R at 6, 11 and 16.

| Priority | Ability | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Q (Switcheroo!) | More minigun attack speed and more rocket range |
| 2 | W (Zap!) | More damage, a stronger slow and a shorter cooldown |
| 3 | E (Flame Chompers!) | Shorter cooldown; one point already gives the full 1.5-second root |
| R | Super Mega Death Rocket! | Whenever available |

Taking Q at level 1 matters because, as the wiki points out, Jinx gets no bonus attack speed from Pow-Pow until Switcheroo! is learned.

## Best Jinx build for patch 26.21

![Jinx build from the video: Doran's Blade, potion, Yun Tal Wildarrows, Berserker's Greaves, Infinity Edge, Runaan's Hurricane and situational items](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0104_t0JONRf.webp)

setup The video's item path, with current wiki prices and stats:

| Order | Item | Cost | What it gives Jinx |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Start | Doran's Blade + Health Potion | 450 + 50 | 10 AD, 80 health, 2.5% omnivamp |
| First item | Yun Tal Wildarrows | 3,000 | 50 AD, 45% attack speed, up to 25% crit from attacking, burst of attack speed on champions |
| Boots | Berserker's Greaves | 1,100 | 30% attack speed, 45 movement speed |
| Core | Infinity Edge | 3,500 | 75 AD, 25% crit, 30% crit damage |
| Core | Runaan's Hurricane | 2,650 | 40% attack speed, 25% crit, bolts at 2 extra enemies |
| Situational | The Bloodthirster | 3,400 | 80 AD, 15% life steal, overheal shield |
| Situational | Lord Dominik's Regards | 3,300 | Armor penetration against tanks |
| Situational | Guardian Angel | 3,200 | 55 AD, armor, revive |
| Situational | Hexoptics C44 | 2,800 | 55 AD, 25% crit, bonus damage at range, range after takedowns |

Several of these items changed after the video was made, so the build is stronger than it was then:

- **Yun Tal Wildarrows** went from 3,100 to 3,000 gold and from 40% to 45% attack speed in 26.15.
- **Berserker's Greaves** went from 25% to 30% attack speed in 26.16.
- **Runaan's Hurricane** bolts went from 55% to 65% AD and its movement speed from 4% to 5% in 26.16, then the bolts were cut to 60% AD in 26.20. The wiki notes each bolt also applies Fishbones splash, so Runaan's with rockets hits a whole teamfight.
- **Hexoptics C44**, a new 2026 item, now gives its range bonus for 8 seconds after a takedown instead of 6 (26.4).

Since Infinity Edge and Runaan's are the two items that follow Yun Tal in the video, the best Jinx build in LoL right now is still Yun Tal, Berserker's Greaves, Infinity Edge, Runaan's Hurricane, then Jinx items picked from the four situational ones: Lord Dominik's against tanks, Bloodthirster or Guardian Angel against burst, Hexoptics when you need more range.

## The ADC seventh item slot changes your item path

![Jinx at 29 minutes with 75% crit and a late-game item set after Baron Nashor](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0166_fInEH9U.webp)

grind In Season 2026 the bot lane role quest moves your boots into a separate Role Quest slot once it's done. That means Jinx can hold boots and six full items, so the four situational items above are no longer a choice of two: with the quest finished you can own Yun Tal, Infinity Edge, Runaan's and three of the four. The quest also gives 300 gold right away, 2 bonus gold per minion and 40 bonus gold per champion takedown, which is why the video says a scaling ADC like Jinx outscales mid-game champions now. The [role quests guide](/guides/lol-role-quests-guide) covers every point source; for Jinx the short version is that minions in bot lane are worth 3 points, plates 40 and takedowns 15, so farming is how you finish it early.

In the video's game, Jinx is at 75% crit with her late items by the 29-minute Baron. skip Don't sell Berserker's Greaves late to make room; once the quest is done the boots have their own slot.

## Jinx matchups and counters

![Jinx matchup slide: Ezreal, Ziggs and Kai'Sa easier, Twitch, Samira and Swain harder](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0088_YV1ewnx.webp)

skip The video's matchup slide lists Ezreal, Ziggs and Kai'Sa as easier lanes and Twitch, Samira and Swain as harder ones. Its reasoning is the useful part: Jinx struggles against champions who can get on top of her and kill her before she gets her attack speed going, and she does well against champions whose power is in the mid game, because she outscales them.

For Jinx counters in LoL, think in types, not names:

- **Harder:** all-in bot lanes and assassins (Samira, invisible divers like Twitch), and drain mages like Swain who win long close fights. Keep E for when they commit, not for poke.
- **Harder in a different way:** Yasuo's Wind Wall blocks projectiles, and the wiki notes that Flame Chompers stop when they reach it. Our [Yasuo guide](/guides/lol-yasuo-guide) explains how he uses the wall; wait for it to go down before you throw W or R.
- **Easier:** poke and utility ADCs or mages who don't have hard engage. Farm, trade with rockets, and win the late game.

Stop taking extended trades at level 1 and 2 against all-in lanes; your power comes later.

## Jinx support synergy

![Jinx support synergy slide with Braum, Thresh, Maokai, Sona and Janna](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0116_eOYjAqQ.webp)

setup The video says Jinx is good with most supports, especially those who protect her early or make her stronger as the game goes on. It shows Braum, Thresh, Maokai, Sona and Janna. Two kinds work best:

- **Peel and engage supports** (Braum, Thresh, Maokai) lock enemies down long enough for E and W to follow up, and stand between Jinx and divers.
- **Enchanters** (Sona, Janna) shield, heal and speed her up, which matters a lot for a champion with no dash.

Our [support guide](/guides/lol-support-guide) covers engage versus enchanter supports and lane posture from the other side. As Jinx, tell your support when you have E up so their crowd control turns into a root.

## Jinx laning: farm, poke and the role quest

![Jinx at level 6 in bot lane aiming her ultimate at a low-health enemy, with her support Morgana beside her](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0135_15SPbzw.webp)

grind Jinx laning is about getting as much gold and experience as possible, and the video's key point is that the calmer the laning phase is, the better it is for Jinx. The way to keep it calm is to poke: whenever the enemy steps forward to last hit, swap to Fishbones and fire a rocket at them. Every rocket that lands makes them farm from further back.

- free Last hit with the minigun and swap to rockets only for poke or to hit groups, so you don't run out of mana.
- free When your support lands crowd control, follow with E and W.
- grind Prioritise farm, turret plates and rotations to Dragon, since all three feed your role quest.

How you push the wave decides whether those trades are safe; our [wave management guide](/guides/lol-wave-management-guide) explains slow pushing and crashing with your support, which is the usual pattern in bot lane.

## Mid game: take the tower and move mid

![Jinx just after an enemy turret is destroyed in the mid game, aiming a skillshot at a fleeing enemy](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0152_foPS7Qf.webp)

cheap As the laning phase ends, the video's plan is to take your bot tower as soon as possible and rotate to mid lane. Mid is the shortest lane, so it is the safest for an immobile carry, and you and your support become two strong champions in a spot where you can push the turret and reach fights and objectives quickly. Fishbones splash hits turrets, and a takedown on a turret or inhibitor also triggers Get Excited!, so you can chain a turret straight into a fight.

When you leave bot, push the bot wave first so you don't lose it. Use R on fights across the map, since the rocket gives you a takedown and gold even from base.

## Jinx teamfight positioning in the late game

![Jinx in a late-game teamfight scoring a kill with 1.96 attack speed](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/final_0172_z4mCX0T.webp)

free In late-game teamfights Jinx is the backline hyper carry. The video's rule is to sit back and shoot whatever is in front of you: at this stage, it says, nothing can really stand against her. In practice:

- Stand behind your frontline and attack the closest enemy you can hit safely. Rockets hit the group around them.
- Keep E and W for yourself. Throw E at your feet when a diver comes, and slow them with W.
- Switch weapons as needed: rockets to reach the backline or splash a group, minigun when the target is in range.
- Get the first takedown. One assist starts Get Excited!, and with each champion takedown after that you get faster and shoot harder.

If the enemy has two or more divers, stay further back and wait for them to use their engage on someone else before you step up. A Jinx who stays alive for the first five seconds of a fight usually wins it.

## How this guide was fact-checked

- **Official League of Legends Wiki** (Jinx page and patch history, Role Quests, Lethal Tempo, Barrier, Doran's Blade, Yun Tal Wildarrows, Berserker's Greaves, Infinity Edge, Runaan's Hurricane, The Bloodthirster, Lord Dominik's Regards, Guardian Angel, Hexoptics C44): every ability number in the guide, the passive's 3-second window, 175% speed and 25% attack speed per stack, Fishbones' cost, range and 10% attack speed penalty, ultimate damage and 1,500-unit maximum distance, Chompers stopping at Wind Wall, item prices and stats, and the bot lane quest rewards.
- **Official patch notes 26.1 to 26.21**: Jinx changes in 26.4 (armor growth 4.7 to 4.2), 26.16 (all ADCs: magic resistance 33 + 1.1 per level) and 26.21 (health 630 to 610, AD growth 3.25 to 3); ultimate damage cuts in 25.23 and 26.1; item changes to Yun Tal (26.15), Berserker's Greaves (26.16), Runaan's Hurricane (26.16, 26.20) and Hexoptics C44 (26.4). No later patch changed Jinx's abilities, Lethal Tempo, Doran's Blade or Infinity Edge on Summoner's Rift.
- **From the video**: the runes, item path, skill order, summoner spells, combo, matchup and synergy picks, and the laning, mid-game and teamfight plan. Items and champions on the video's slides were identified from their icons and portraits, since the narration names only some of them.
- **Corrections and additions to the video**: the video describes the ultimate's full damage as reached at "about your screen length"; the wiki gives 1,500 units. The video doesn't mention that Jinx is now weaker in base stats (26.21) or that Yun Tal, Berserker's and Runaan's changed after it was made. Nothing in the video's description of her abilities contradicts the wiki.

## What this guide doesn't answer

- **Exact win rates and tier placement.** These change every patch and differ by rank; check a stats site for your elo.
- **Every bot lane matchup.** The video names six; we only describe the types of lanes that are easy or hard.
- **Arena, ARAM and Mayhem builds.** Jinx's numbers and items differ in those modes (for example, her ultimate cooldown in Arena is 30 to 50 seconds).
- **Skins and lore.** This is a gameplay guide; the Arcane story and skin lines are out of scope.
- **Jungle and objective timers.** See the [role quests guide](/guides/lol-role-quests-guide) and the wave management guide for how bot lane fits into the map.

## FAQ

### What is the best Jinx build in 2026?

For patch 26.21 the build from the 3 Minute League of Legends video is Doran's Blade and a Health Potion, Yun Tal Wildarrows first, then Berserker's Greaves, Infinity Edge and Runaan's Hurricane. Finish with situational items: Lord Dominik's Regards against tanks, The Bloodthirster or Guardian Angel against burst, or Hexoptics C44 for range. Once the ADC role quest is done your boots move to their own slot, so you can own six items plus boots.

### What runes should Jinx take?

Lethal Tempo with Presence of Mind, Legend: Bloodline and Coup de Grace, plus Absolute Focus and Gathering Storm from Sorcery, with attack speed, adaptive force and scaling health shards. Ranged Lethal Tempo gives 4.8% attack speed per stack, up to 28.8% at 6 stacks. Take Flash with Barrier, or Heal in long poke lanes.

### When should Jinx use rockets instead of the minigun?

Use Fishbones, the rocket launcher, to poke enemies just out of minigun range, to hit groups of minions or champions with splash, and against turrets. Rockets cost 20 mana each, gain 100 to 200 range and deal 110% AD to the target and enemies around it. Use Pow-Pow, the minigun, for single targets in range, since its three Rev'd up stacks give up to 130% bonus attack speed at rank 5.

### How does Jinx's passive Get Excited work?

When Jinx scores a takedown on an enemy champion, epic monster, turret or inhibitor within 3 seconds of damaging it, she gains 175% bonus movement speed decaying over 6 seconds and a stack of 25% total attack speed, up to 5 stacks. Only champion takedowns add stacks beyond the first, and she can exceed the attack speed cap while it lasts. Assists count.

### What is Jinx's best combo?

The all-in from the video is auto attack, Flame Chompers (E) on the target, Super Mega Death Rocket (R) while they are rooted for 1.5 seconds, Zap (W) to slow them as the root ends, then more auto attacks. In lane, follow your support's crowd control with E and then W. Her ultimate reaches full damage after 1,500 units and also deals 25 to 35% of the target's missing health.
