This guide sets up a Chanter for PvE in AION 2: the skills and specialties to level with, the first stigmas and passives, and a macro that runs most of your damage from one key. It then covers what to change once you reach level 45, when Dark Crush loses its cooldown and becomes the centre of the rotation.

## Quick answer

| What | Answer |
| --- | --- |
| Key upgrade | Dark Crush at skill level 16 loses its cooldown |
| First stigmas | Sprint Mantra and Undefeated Mantra |
| Dark Crush trigger | Spinning Strike opens a 2-second Dark Crush window |
| Party buff | Power of the Storm, 2-minute cooldown |
| Early input | Hold left mouse button and the macro key together |
| Mid passives | Attack Preparation, Wind's Promise and Impact Hit |

## Know what the Chanter does in a party

The Chanter is classed as a support, but it is not a healer. It has one active heal and a few incidental ones, and that is the whole of its healing kit. If your party has no Cleric, you are still its main support: you carry the group through **buffs** and utility rather than through big heals 0:29 ↗.

Its value comes from making everyone else hit harder and take less damage. On top of that, the Chanter's own damage is high under the current balance — far above what a Cleric puts out 0:58 ↗. Treat it as a support with respectable damage. It is never a true damage dealer, and the setup below is built around keeping party buffs up while a macro handles your rotation.

## Set up your leveling skills

You start with four damage skills and add utility around them. Early on, **Spinning Strike** and **Dark Crush** have long cooldowns, so most of your damage comes from spamming **Onslaught** and **Incandescent Blow** 4:20 ↗. **Onslaught** generates **MP** and **Incandescent Blow** spends it, so the two feed each other.

**Dark Crush** cannot be cast on demand. A trigger skill has to open a short window first, and every trigger you take exists partly to keep that window open.

| Skill | What it does | What to take |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Onslaught (left click) | No cooldown, generates MP | Absorb HP and +50% Multi-Hit on hit |
| Incandescent Blow (right click) | No cooldown, consumes MP | Third specialty: 12% more damage when hitting fewer targets, ideal on bosses 2:25 ↗ |
| Dark Crush | Must be triggered first | Critical on hit, and the specialty that adds the Piercing Strike chain skill 2:55 ↗ |
| Spinning Strike | Heavy hit; +15% critical damage for 30 seconds on hit, stacking twice to 30%; opens Dark Crush for 2 seconds | -5 second cooldown, and up to 20% damage when fewer targets are hit 3:51 ↗ |
| Impactful Crush | Ranged 3-second stun; opens Dark Crush for 2 seconds | Level 8, then change it to a mobile skill |
| Gust Rampage | Usable only on staggered bosses, but spammable without limit while they are | Nothing essential; HP absorb helps |
| Rushing Smash | Gap closer | Level 12: cooldown resets whenever an enemy dies 5:47 ↗ |
| Second mobility skill | Gap closer, usable only after a dodge | Level 8 and +10 m range, matching Rushing Smash |
| Recuperation | Your only active heal, party-wide | Level 8: two casts in a row plus a heal over time; level 12: +5% HP restored 7:14 ↗ |

![Onslaught Lv. 1 skill window listing its specialties: +20% MP restored, Absorbs 0.7% HP, +50% Multi-Hit on hit, and -1s Spinning Strike cooldown on hit, with a locked level 16 Storm Chain Chain Skill; the Chanter stands in front of three horned training dummies.](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/01-onslaught-specialties.jpg "Pick Absorbs HP and +50% Multi-Hit on hit for Onslaught while leveling.")

A few of these deserve more than a table cell.

**Piercing Strike** hits harder than the Dark Crush that unlocks it, so get that specialty as early as you can. The HP absorb on **Onslaught** is small but makes solo leveling noticeably safer.

**Rushing Smash** at level 12 is the biggest quality-of-life upgrade in the leveling kit. The reset fires on any kill, not just kills made with the skill itself, so you can dash to a pack, finish it and dash straight to the next one. Leave its other specialties alone; none of them do anything useful in PvE.

The second mobility skill needs a dodge (Shift) before it can be used. Because **Rushing Smash** is up almost constantly, you will rarely press it outside boss fights, but the matching 10 m range means both gap closers behave the same when you need two.

**Impactful Crush** looks like a PvP stun, and the stun itself does little in PvE. You take it because it is a second way to open **Dark Crush**. Converting it to a mobile skill at level 8 stops it rooting you in place.

## Pick your first stigmas and passives

**Mantras** are auras: you switch them on once and they apply to your whole party. Your first two stigmas are always **Sprint Mantra** and **Undefeated Mantra** 7:44 ↗.

**Sprint Mantra** adds movement speed for the party and gives each of your attacks a 15% chance to restore HP to nearby teammates. That makes it your second source of healing after **Recuperation** — keep hitting the boss and the party tops itself up. The speed matters more than it sounds: faster players step out of telegraphed attacks, so a party with a Chanter takes fewer hits in dungeons, and you clear leveling zones faster.

![Sprint Mantra Lv. 1 skill tooltip: a Magic Buff toggle skill that increases Move Speed by 10.5% and gives a 15% chance to restore 237-261 HP on landing an attack to the caster and nearby party members, with a 1s healing cooldown, 5s cooldown and Staff weapon condition.](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/02-stigma-setup.jpg "Sprint Mantra's tooltip shows the movement speed bonus and the 15% heal chance that make it a first-pick stigma.")

**Undefeated Mantra** raises **PvE Damage Boost** and **PvE Damage Tolerance** for everyone in the party: more damage dealt, less taken. Keep it on at all times 8:42 ↗.

Your third stigma is **Power of the Storm**, a party buff on a 2-minute cooldown that grants **Combat Speed** and reduced cooldowns 9:12 ↗. It is not up for every pull, so save it for the moments the whole party is dealing damage.

Stacking limit

Undefeated Mantra and Power of the Storm do not fully stack with some Cleric abilities. If you do not know what your Cleric is running, keep both anyway — they are strong enough that a partial overlap still pays.

For passives while leveling, put your points into two:

- **Attack Preparation** raises PvE Damage Boost, defense and accuracy. Max it out; the damage boost alone justifies it.
- **Wind's Promise** raises **Critical Damage Boost** and gives skills a chance to deal extra damage 10:10 ↗. It stays useful well past leveling.

## Play the early game with a one-line macro

The leveling macro uses a single line. You hold the left mouse button and the macro key at the same time, and the macro picks the next skill for you by trying them in order until one is available.

![Macro editor grid with a single filled line of skill icons, levels 1 to 13 visible, and the lines above it mostly empty, shown below the character](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/03-early-macro.jpg "The whole leveling macro sits on one line, so you only need to hold left click and the macro key.")

Put Dark Crush first on one macro line, with Spinning Strike behind it

Hold left mouse button and the macro key together
    10:39 ↗

The macro tries Dark Crush, finds it untriggered, and casts Spinning Strike

Spinning Strike opens Dark Crush for 2 seconds and the macro casts it once
    11:08 ↗

With both on cooldown, the macro falls through to Incandescent Blow while left click keeps Onslaught going

Optional: press Impactful Crush each time Dark Crush comes off cooldown
    extra damage · 11:37 ↗

For most of a fight you are effectively spamming **Onslaught** and **Incandescent Blow**, with **Spinning Strike** and **Dark Crush** slotting in when they come up. That is enough to carry you all the way to level 45.

The last step is the only manual input worth adding. Without it, **Dark Crush** sits ready but unusable until **Spinning Strike** comes back. Pressing **Impactful Crush** the moment **Dark Crush** is off cooldown opens a second window and keeps it firing.

## Upgrade your skills at level 45

From level 45, the goal is levelling every active skill, passive and stigma. Some specialties only unlock at skill level 16, and a few of those change how the class plays.

| Skill | Level 16 effect | Specialty change |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Dark Crush | Removes its 5-second cooldown 12:34 ↗ | Top priority |
| Onslaught | Adds a fourth chain attack that hits harder than the first three 13:32 ↗ | Swap to -1 second Spinning Strike cooldown on hit |
| Recuperation | -3 seconds cooldown | Replaces the +5% HP restored |
| Spinning Strike | Ignores block and evasion and always crits 14:31 ↗ | Replaces the -5 second cooldown specialty |

**Dark Crush** at 16 is the upgrade the whole build is built around. By default it has a 5-second cooldown, so a 2-second trigger window lets you cast it once. With the cooldown gone, you cast it repeatedly for the whole window, and with several triggers in rotation you can keep it going almost without pause 13:03 ↗.

The new chain on **Onslaught** adds up fast, because you are pressing left click constantly to animation-cancel your other attacks. Its new specialty shortens **Spinning Strike** on every hit, which means more **Dark Crush** windows.

The **Recuperation** and **Spinning Strike** level 16 options are smaller gains. Take them when you get there, but they do not change the rotation.

## Choose mid-game stigmas and passives

Your fourth stigma is **Marchutan's Wrath**, a ranged damage skill that also opens **Dark Crush** for 3 seconds — the longest window of any trigger, and much stronger once **Dark Crush** has no cooldown 14:58 ↗.

Spend stigma points in this order:

1. **Power of the Storm** to level 5. That cuts 30 seconds off its cooldown, a 25% reduction 15:27 ↗.
2. **Undefeated Mantra** until level 20. Beyond the larger PvE Damage Boost and Tolerance, its higher levels add party-wide **Critical Damage Boost** and **Double Chance**.
3. Spread the rest across your other stigmas.

In a pre-made party, **Fracturing Blow** is worth a slot. It lowers enemy defense, which raises everyone's damage. Defense is a flat reduction, so cutting it matters most while gear is low — early in season one it is very strong, and it loses value as the season goes on 16:25 ↗.

Skip the extra heal

Even as the only healer, leave **Healing Touch** out. It heals a modest amount on a 30-second cooldown. Keep Marchutan's Wrath, Undefeated Mantra, Sprint Mantra and Power of the Storm instead: more damage and stronger buffs end fights before the healing matters.

By now you have spare skill points to max every passive, but three are worth focusing on 17:53 ↗:

| Passive | What it gives |
| --- | --- |
| Attack Preparation | PvE Damage Boost, defense, accuracy |
| Wind's Promise | Critical Damage Boost, chance of extra damage on skill use |
| Impact Hit | More impact-type chance for landing crowd control, plus Double Chance |

**Impact Hit** is here for **Double Chance**, a chance to deal double damage; the crowd-control part barely matters in PvE.

**Protection Circle** is the one other passive worth understanding. Every hit on an enemy adds a stack, and at 10 stacks every party member gets a shield 18:22 ↗. As long as you keep attacking a boss, the shields keep coming. It is a nice bonus, not a focus.

## Run the mid-game macro and rotation

The mid-game macro uses two lines. **Dark Crush** and all three of its triggers — **Spinning Strike**, **Marchutan's Wrath** and **Impactful Crush** — go on the first line together. **Incandescent Blow** gets the second line.

![Macro window with two lines: line 1 Dark Crush (Lv. 14) and line 2 Incandescent Blow (Lv. 12), each with a 10 ms delay, over the Skill screen with the Onslaught Lv. 4 details on the left](https://api.guides-factory.com/media/uploads/2026/10/04-mid-macro.jpg "The two-line macro puts Dark Crush on the first line and Incandescent Blow on the second.")

Keeping all four on the same hotkey line is what makes this work. After each trigger, the macro goes back to **Dark Crush** first instead of moving on to the next skill, so every window is spent casting it 19:18 ↗. When **Dark Crush** is closed, it works through the triggers in order: **Spinning Strike**, then **Marchutan's Wrath**, then **Impactful Crush**, each reopening the window. When every trigger is on cooldown, it drops to **Incandescent Blow** and **Onslaught**.

If triggers get skipped or **Dark Crush** fires only once per window, check that the triggers are on the same line as it rather than on their own.

Put Dark Crush, Spinning Strike, Marchutan's Wrath and Impactful Crush on macro line one

## Also worth knowing

Before you commit

- **Raise Sprint Mantra to level 10 once Power of the Storm hits level 5.** The stamina regeneration it adds is a noticeable boost.
- **Heat Wave Blow and the on-stagger skill are left out of this setup**, but there is a case for keeping Heat Wave Blow in the mid game until you switch over to Dark Crush spam.

Unresolved

The level 16 specialties above may be out of reach for a casual player who has just hit level 45. Whether to stay on the leveling setup until they unlock, or move to the mid-game layout without them, has no settled answer yet.

## FAQ

### Is the Chanter a healer in AION 2?

Not really. The Chanter is classed as a support, but it has only one active heal and gets most of its support value from party buffs such as Undefeated Mantra and Sprint Mantra. It also deals respectable damage, so it plays as a buffer with strong damage rather than a true healer or a true damage dealer.

### What triggers Dark Crush for the Chanter?

Dark Crush cannot be cast on demand and must be triggered first. Spinning Strike and Impactful Crush each make it available for 2 seconds, and Merchant's Wrath makes it available for 3 seconds. Once Dark Crush loses its cooldown at skill level 16, these triggers let you cast it repeatedly.

### Should a solo Chanter take Healing Touch?

It is usually better to skip it. Healing Touch heals only a modest amount and has a 30-second cooldown, so extra damage and stronger buffs do more for a party. Keep Merchant's Wrath, Undefeated Mantra, Sprint Mantra and Power of the Storm even when no other Chanter is present.

### How does the Chanter macro work in AION 2?

The macro tries Dark Crush first and falls back to the next skill on its line when Dark Crush is not available. Holding the left mouse button and the macro key together lets it cycle through your trigger skills and Dark Crush automatically, with Onslaught and Incendison Blow filling the gaps.
